Mercure Gdansk Stare Miasto

The worst experience I have ever had staying at an Accor hotel. Got upgraded to the privilege room however it was the smallest and darkest Accor room I have ever stayed in. I understand the building is old however it really does need a refresh. The room felt very stuffy and the air-conditioning was not working. I could not sleep the night as it was too hot after trying to get the aircond to work and was sweating the whole night and got sick/a fever the next day. When I complained at the reception the next day he said I probably am not the only one with this airconditioning problem. Was offered free breakfast which does nothing to fix my problem. I was given a fan however still the room was too hot as the fridge in the room gave out a lot of heat. The receptionist said sorry there is nothing he could do besides the fan, no offer for a refund or to try a different, larger room or anything. It was such a bad experience I had to book a hotel at the Holiday Inn in Gdansk which was a far better experience and wasted my money for the remaining 2 nights. Will definitely not be coming back to this property.

Note that the staff were not bad, just that it was not a good response for airconditioning not working - why would I pay to sleep there if I could not even sleep as the room was too unbearable - a question I did raise.
