Star Convention Hotel (Star Hotel)

Mature independent backpackers who do not usually stay in an "upmarket" hotel. This hotel is a rare exception. 1200 baht with breakfast. 5 star without the 5 star price. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights. The staff were amazing. Friendly warm helpful. Cannot speak too highly of them. The breakfast is extensive and includes sushi, Thai dishes, eggs cooked to order, a range of quality bread and pastries, real coffee and all the other breakfast food you would expect. Different dishes each morning we were there. The only 4 star rating was the room. Showing its age but clean, comfortable extra comfy bed. Overall great value. Will return.

This is the best hotel in all of Rayong. Not even the new Novotel can beat it. The location is exceptional and the breakfast buffet is exceptional and offers varieties for all nationalities and tastes. My only gripe is not for me, but more for my elderly mother with whom I was vacationing with. Because this hotel is located on a steep hill, it would be best if they had some type of convenient golf cart or simple transportation for my elderly mother to go up and down the steep hill. My mom loves to walk to the nearby market, but it would have helped her greatly to have a golf cart go up and down the steep hill that the hotel is on. I hope the hotel manager sees this review and purchases a golf cart for the more elderly people staying there. Other than this, I love this hotel

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff f were the most helpful we experienced in Thailand (and all Thai people are helpful ) . They booked us a scooter , dropped us at the bus station and directed us to a nearby (cheaper) laundrette .

The rooms were large , clean and extremely comfortable (amazingly comfy bed with memory foam ) .

They offer pool, gym and even gym classes several times a day . The only negative is the pool is only in the sun a few hours a day.

You’re right above the night bazar , which has over a hundred food stalls nightly.

The beach doesn’t have any sun loungers or umbrellas, but if you get a scooter and driver about 30 mins east along the coast (just before the national
Park ) you’ll find soft sand beaches with restaurants, seating , shade and lovely swimmable sea . (It comes up as Rayong beach on Google maps ).

All in all , I’d highly recommend this place for a chilled , comfortable and affordable stay 😊

Fabulous hotel, amazing amounts of space, rooms too. Pillows are hard no good for my arthritis of neck. Aircon good, quiet. Rooms quiet. Gym huge, a lot of old weights not kilos, a number of treadmills not working, but many machines to use. Swimming pool is good depth think 1.5m far end., prefer rectangular pool as I like to swim lengths, many many, it's more a social pool. Could do with new outdoor pool shower pipping fitted as very old. Market right by Hotel which is extensive. First time used this Hotel will be back many times. Breakfast is exceptional, huge choice, great Danish pastries and loafs of bread. Staff are very nice.

Excellent hotel offering great value. Superb staff as well. Large comfortable rooms with good wi-fi. No sit down restaurant but good room service and breakfast buffet. Western food very limited though. Really my only complaint, but there are quite a few restaurants very close by. Great location!

We stayed in room 6614 this room was located at the highest floor which was 6th. We had quite a nice view of the whole star complex, the room was very nicely equipped it was a real surprise as I didn’t have high expectations for an older hotel like this. The room came with a microwave, plates, cups and cutlery very neat if you would rather to bring your own food to the room. The breakfast was decent as well a really good choice of dishes. We did have a issue with the toilet not flushing properly it required multiple flush for the stuff to go down, we raised this issue with the hotel staff but they assured us that it was normal in the rooms. Another thing worth mentioning is to get to the hotel entrance you do need to make a bit of a hike up the road.

Good location and full option gym. Breakfast is great. Valuable price even if the room is a bit old. Near fresh market, easy to buy food at night at the night market.

It's an old 5 star hotel. They were smart enough to transform it to a 4 star hotel due to its age. The result is stunning. The service is a 5 star service. The room is a 5 star size. The price is a 3 star price.
It's located near a super cool market.
I can only advise strongly this hotel and will definitely come back.

Amazing place! The huge, opulent lobby has beautiful carved wooden furniture inlaid with marble. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool area is great. The buffet breakfast offered a huge choice of different dishes to suit every taste. Highly recommended.There wrre restaurants in easy access and the Star Fresh, (fruit and veg) Market and Night Bazaar were in easy walking distance.
