Mediterra Art Hotel

This hotel might be the worst place I have ever stayed. First night we came in late and tired. They put us on the second floor, where a bar/Electronic disco blasted the music SO LOUD, my earplugs were useless. We told the front desk and they wouldn’t move us and said come back in the morning. Music played till after 1am. Next day they said they had no other room for us, but tomorrow they would try and move us but it would be no better in another room. They did move and they were right, as we now heard the electronic music along with their band, no better, maybe worse. Their breakfast did not accommodate my vegan friend. We moved near the party district and I just gave them a 5 star review. Mediterra Arts doesn’t get the concept of the main purpose of a hotel is to sleep.

The room was extremely small—literally, you open the door and your foot is on the bed. Cleaning is only done when you check out, so even though we requested it, we were told we’d have to wait another 6 days. The air conditioning didn’t work properly and had a strange smell. The noise at night was unbearable; loud music blared until the early hours. I thought other reviews were exaggerating, but they weren’t! It felt like being in a nightclub.

The only positive was the location, which is just a 5-minute walk from the main high street. However, because the hotel is in the old town, only certain vehicles, like yellow cabs, can drop you off right in front. We were dropped off a 5-10 minute walk away on our first night without Wi-Fi, so we had to figure things out with all our luggage.

The hotel food is overpriced, and the complimentary breakfast isn’t anything special. Most of the staff didn’t speak English, and when we requested tea bags and sugar, it took over two hours for them to bring it to us. Overall, we were very disappointed and will not be returning to this hotel. I’m just counting down the hours until we can leave. Also, the pillows were uncomfortably thick, with no softer options available.
