Puding Hotel

We recently stayed at Puding Hotel in Antalya and had a rather strange experience. While the location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the marina, and the rooms are spacious and clean, the hotel falls short in several key areas. The breakfast was a decent Turkish spread with a few hot dishes that rotated over our three-day stay, and the historical architecture added charm. Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by some bizarre policies and issues.

We had bought a bottle of wine during our travels and wanted to chill it the room fridge. Unfortunately, the room fridge wasn't cold and enough and condensation could be seen inside the fridge as it was wet inside. We feedback to the front desk manager and he insisted that it was working well but he will get someone to check. That did not happen over the 3 days while we were there.

We thought that maybe we can chill the wine in an ice bucket instead. When I called the reception to request for one, I was told to get it from the restaurant myself. At the restaurant, I was given only a cup of ice and told they do not provide wine buckets. This is puzzling and quite disappointing for a 4-star hotel. Why they didn't just mention over the phone and I had to make a trip down to the restaurant only to be turned away?

The shower was another issue. Setting the dial to a specific temperature did not maintain a consistent temperature of water. It would suddenly turn freezing cold or become scalding hot, making it very difficult to shower comfortably.

We stayed in room 321, which is on the highest floor. While it was bright and pleasant during the day, the lighting at night was insufficient. We had to adjust the reading light towards the ceiling to illuminate the room properly.

Another thing to note is that the hotel is in a historical area and lacks an elevator. This means you have to carry your luggage yourself during check-out.

In summary, if you're looking for a hotel that is clean and in a great location, Puding Hotel might suffice. However, if you value good service, reliable facilities, proper amenities and more comfort, you might want to consider other options. The lack of attention to detail and poor service make it hard to understand how this hotel received numerous awards.
