The only downside I see is the price of parking $37 daily for valet, no self parking but you do have unlimited in/out privileges. Also, there is no breakfast included and the selections at the Starbucks Bistro are pricey. In my opinion, it's worth a little extra expense if you can spare it for a clean comfortable hotel stay.
All Staff including valet and housekeeping are professional, pleasant & helpful. Our room was spacious, very clean, fresh linens, with a nice view. I definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking to stay downtown Charleston.
When I came to check in, they had a room ready for me, but I had to be difficult and request a room on a higher floor because I'm a girl who loves a view. I had to wait a little longer, maybe 45 minutes, and several people checked on me while I was waiting and they were even apologetic for the wait, even though it was my own pickiness that caused me to wait. It was WELL worth it for a top floor corner room with views of the water.
The hotel itself was in a good location. Walking distance to several bars and restaurants. Parking is an extra cost and I wasn't planning on paying for it but after driving around several times with no luck, I gave in. The parking that is attached to the hotel isn't much though. There is a small garage underground along with some more spaces above, but they also have overflow parking across the street. I tried the garage once but then decided to use the lot across the street for the rest of my time because it was easier.
The rates were comparable with many other places downtown, even when adding in the parking. But just knowing how nice and accommodating everyone was, I think that sets this place apart. Although, that could just be the standard for southern hospitality. Either way, I'd definitely stay again.
