Congress Plaza Hotel Chicago
Chicago, 520 South Michigan Avenue 🧭 Map
I enjoyed everything about this historic hotel. Lady at front desk was friendly, funny, and helpful. Shared info about the supposed haunted room in one of the many wings of this huge hotel. Lobby was gorgeous and even had a pool table. Stayed in the South Wing. Room seemed to have been recently updated, with comfy beds. Although it was a bit smaller the ceilings were extremely high giving it a more...
Pretty good location and a classic hotel. Being classic it's also dated. Nice view of the park, and quite clean, but not the best room to do work in all day. Easy walk to the art institute. No AC, pay for refrigerator, free WiFi one day only. Great lobby though, there were people doing a photo shoot on the couches for an album, I can see why!
I thought this place was nice. Staff was nice, plaza was nice, room was a little rough though. Cracks in wall and ceiling. I understand it’s an older building but rooms could use some work. But the great rate we got on the room made up for the small defects.
The hotel has a very charming old feel to it. We got a lake side view room, and the view out the window is great, especially at sunrise! The place is clean and the bed is comfortable. Staff interactions have all been pleasant. Would definitely stay here again!
This is a great location in the heart of Chicago. The lobby has a well-maintained elegance from an earlier time. The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean with a great view of Grant Park and Lake Michigan. If you look hard enough, there are piecemeal repairs to the room and hallways--it's not all brand-spanking new, but well worth the price. I would definitely stay here again.
For what we paid for it, the room was well worth it. But the room was oddly monochrome (everything was painted white). The furniture was white and the bedspread was white and the curtains were (you guessed it) white. I wish I'd taken a picture, because looking back, it's kind of funny. The architecture of the room (beautiful art deco molding and domed ceiling) was hidden by the complete lack of contrasting...
It's old.....but that happens to the best of us. Tiny TV on a HUGE wall was kinda funny but I didn't go to Chicago to watch TV so not a big deal. No Microwave.
Great location with a beautiful view of the lake. Very nice room with a comfortable bed and they even provided complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste. Very nice staff at the front desk that let us upgrade our room to a lake view and check in early for a very small fee.

So far this is the best hostel I’ve stayed!
Super convenient rooms with enough space for everyone.
Separate toilet/shower/washbasin - so no wasting time.
Free breakfast with the perfect view of railway.
The whole building is cool and very well located.
Good location, and a Cuban sandwich place next door. Front desk service is alright, lot of new employees. Their library was closed and they didn’t know why. Also they do keep the rooms around 55 degrees Fahrenheit so be prepared for that. Good hot showers though. No meat for breakfast which is a downside for sure. Just oatmeal or other bread items like bagels or muffins. Comfortable beds and blankets
This is the best hostel I've ever stayed at. I stayed in a 6-8 bed mens dorm. There were 4 bunk beds in the room I stayed in and a very generous amount of shared space for you to store your personal belongings. There were also tall lockers for you to store your larger personal belongings. What makes this hostel a "luxury" is that each room has its own shower and toilet (two separate rooms), plus sinks...
Highly recommend this hostel!! I've stayed here twice and had an amazing experience both times. Amazing location, a few minutes walk to Lake Michigan and many great food options. I was traveling solo and felt very safe both at the hostel and walking around the area. All of the facilities were very clean and comfortable. Free breakfast as well! I really appreciated how they have free events each day...
Stayed in a bunk bed private room with my friend and the room was alright. It was small and the blankets were thin but it was definitely good enough for me. The suite bathroom, shared by the other 5(?) private rooms, were a bit grimy and the lights flickered but the ones in the hallway were better. Also the bathroom door slammed pretty loud and we could hear it all night.
However, the common area on...
God bless this hostel. There is something affordable for everyone here, and no one can ever go to bed hungry. Unlimited granola bars and fruit cups and soy butter for vegetarians, free coffee, free breakfast, often times something being distributed in the kitchen in the afternoon...
Even someone who has a few dollars to their name won't go hungry here.
They seem to be sensitive and caring to hire...

Crowne Plaza - Chicago West Loop, an IHG Hotel
Chicago, 25 S Halsted St 🧭 Map
The staff team were brilliant. Especially front of house. The best customer service we’ve had in years of international travel.
Hotel is in a great location and was easily accessible. It was a short walk from Union Station but there were plenty of cabs and Ubers/Lyfts in the area for when walking wouldn't work. The rooms were very nice and only need a little work done for upkeep. We enjoyed the on-site bar and the fitness facility a lot. Very good property.
From what I’ve seen of the hotel, it’s not bad once you get inside! As of this writing, a parking garage is being built and there is usually a lot of congestion when I arrive for my weekly Mary Kay success meeting however, the valets are very accommodating. The hotel appears (from the lobby) to be modern and up to date. The food is palatable and the service is very good.
Hotel is nice enough with comfortable beds and pillows. Location is good for lots of eating places. Lots of construction right now next to the building but not a lot of noise from it ( I was on the opposite side). Time to get from valet in the morning took 30 minutes but there is a nice app you can use to request your car.
Nice rooms with clean, comfortable beds. Friendly staff, nice modern design in rooms and lobby. Just make sure to read the fine print in reservations, we got a discounted rate though a hotel membership, and because the room was "discounted" we no longer got breakfast included.
For the price you could easily do better in a city with vast options. Rooms are dated, there are no power outlets on the desk or lamps. Water pressure in the shower was quite anemic. If this wasn't booked through work I would have checked out and found nicer options with no advanced booking for cheaper. Decent neighborhood with good dining options.

The room was clean, quiet, spacious, and very tidy. the breakfast was the best of all hotels on our road trip. The hotel seems to be used equally by business visitors as families and tourists. An amazing location!
Excellent experience. The rooms were spacious and equipped with kitchen utensils to prepare your own meal if you choose. The complimentary breakfast was a treat as well, everything I ate was delicious. My only head scratcher is the shower. There's no door so it's a bit awkward and water gets on the floor, but other than that still a 5 star experience!
Got the executive studio definitely exceeded my expectations. Clean and nicely decorated room. King bed and roomy bathroom. Full kitchen equipped with everything I needed. Breakfast every morning included.
Enjoyed our stay here, the staff was absolutely wonderful! For a family of 5 in a 1 bed room suite, we had plenty of room. One of the largest I've seen, very clean. Great location, walking distance from Target, Walgreens, 711, restaurants and more. Will definitely stay here again.
Stayed at this place for a week and the place is awesome. It's right in middle of the loop which is great. The room was spacious and one of the few to have a dedicated kitchen place. The breakfast service was nice and the valet service was prompt. Overall would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the loop.
Beautiful hotel and everyone we came in contact with that worked was very professional and went above and beyond. It was really quiet and clean. The room was magnificent with a decent view. Will definitely stay here again.

Amazing location, next to magnificent mile and chicago loop. Friendly staff, which helped as a lot with the receipts. We only stayed for one night, so we didn't actually use many services provided.
Hotel is great, but the staff has been amazing. Adrian, at check-in was so welcoming I had to give her a hug. She made us feel like we just arrived at the home of family we haven't seen in ages. Our room is great, and the view even better. The location is perfect for all of your needs. Definitely coming back here.
Stayed on a week night, nice and quiet. Beds and pillows were super comfortable. Desk clerk found a pub with entertainment for us that made it a great trip.
Bistro offered breakfast but a rather unusual menu if you just want common breakfast food. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:30 am--we probably should have put the "do not disturb" sign on, but we were only staying one night so why would...
Very convenient location with excellent rates. Rooms are clean, and seems to have suite availability for upgrades. Easy access to public transportation, recommend not having a car unless you need it. Parking rates are pretty high. Good walking access to lots of great places to eat.
The room was well maintained and beautiful with good coffee and better service. The people at the front desk were friendly and accommodating and it seemed like the crowds were split fairly evenly between younger visitors and older professionals. The pool was great and it's in an awesome area for food or nightlife.
Everyone was very welcoming and truly accommodating. A more than two week stay and there was absolutely nothing more I could have asked for.

Hotel Cass - A Holiday Inn Express at Magnificent Mile, an IHG Hotel
Chicago, 640 North Wabash Avenue 🧭 Map
Once an independent, small hotel, now operated by Holiday Inn Express, this is a fantastic find. Just 2 blocks from the heart of Michigan Ave., this affordable hotel is neat and clean, though the rooms are tiny. But how much time are you spending in the room? A basic breakfast and newspaper come with great customer service. Stay here!
This is a great location in the heart of Chicago and the Magnificent Mile. The beautiful hotel is located in Chicago close to all the great places to see and visit. The entry was warm and welcoming and the staff were quick to check me after acknowledging my Spire level and MY FAVORITE courtesy, informing they had upgraded my room prior to my arrival. The room was spacious and very beautifully decorated...
The staff was fantastic! Very friendly and accommodating. The room was small but who needs anything more when you’re so close to everything. And while small the room was immaculate. I will definitely stay here again!!!
Clean hotel, friendly staff. I used a travel site to book the room and it was listed on the website we would have a mini fridge. There was no mini fridge in our room which is hard when we had so many awesome left overs from the restaurants we went too. The hotel is in the prefect spot and within walking distance of Michigan avenue. Besides the refrigerator and the bathroom having no ventilation, our...
This hotel is clean enough, and is in an amazing location. It's hard to find a decent hotel in this area for the price. It's also nice that they renovated an older hotel, instead of tearing it down and building a new location.

The wifi was also good, which can be very hard in older buildings.

We stayed for two nights then moved to another hotel nearby. Staff was great and everyone was friendly, but our room was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen. Everything went very smoothly. Was able to easily get early check-in and add a name to the reservation through the app. Rooms were clean, large, and comfortable, and the breakfast had a lot of good, hot options, not just cold food. I love coming to this Hyatt house in Hyde Park. You are away from the city but close enough to take an Uber within 10 minutes. it's also right in the middle of Hyde Park so walking distance to everything from restaurants to bars and LA fitness is right on the corner. Well decorated and spacious rooms. I paid extra for a "room with a view", not realizing it's only a 6 story building. So the view is meh. But it's a great location for local food and entertainment.

Great deal! Super close to downtown. I love that there was free parking. I lived in Chicago for 10 years on a work assignment and had a chance to see how the area has evolved for the better. This Hotel Is Wonderful!! The Staff Was Friendly The Rooms Were Very Comfortable And Clean. The Bathroom Was Nice Too. Also Loved The Free Parking. Definitely Would Recommend This Hotel To My Friends. Peace And Quiet With Everything From Restaurants And Downtown Within A 10 min Radius. Will Stay Here Again.
If staying on a weekend, get to the hotel before the parking lot fills up or your free parking is around the block or in the street. Bring beverages because the machines on every floor tend to be sold out quickly. The staff is very nice, both desk and maintenance. Breakfast in the coffee shop was wonderful...Very Friendly and nicely priced.. and your room has one of the nicest showers around.
Staying for a Chicago vacation and the hotel is delightful. Free parking and wifi, close access to the highway for quick access to your desired destinations, quiet atmosphere (distant rumble of trains and cars but nothing that was bothersome), and a cafe where breakfast can be made fresh for you. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed here last December before Christmas. It is a great location and close to many places, including the bean, the navy pier, Walgreens, and other places on Michigan avenue. Other tenants are a little noisy but otherwise it's a good place to stay on holiday/vacation.
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Great location for tourists wanting to see all Chicago has to offer. The rooms on the other hand were found wanting, definitely could be updated with fresher bathrooms and a whole new look in the room decor. But if you're looking for a place to crash for a night this will do just fine.
The location is amazing! Just a few minutes walk from amazing food, navy pier, and great sights to see. For the price, it's good. Some things that were a problem: the elevator is a little on the small side and it scrapes as it goes up and down. It also broke down at one point. The rooms are also very small. The breakfast is good, though it's worth noting that we had three staff members "waiting" on us at a breakfast that was supposed to be self-serve. I'll probably come back in the future.
Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I was able to check in early too. Rooms are very comfortable and roomy. The location is great as it is close to lots of shops and restaurants. Great value for the money. I would definitely stay here again.
One of my best experiences at a hotel so far. Check in staff was extremely friendly, location was excellent (from parking, to shopping, and restaurants)! I recommend you get a room with two queen beds as those face Illinois Street and have an absolutely amazing view if you get a floor higher up!
Very enjoyable stay. Staff is very friendly. Beds are comfortable. Clean. Looks modern in decor. Free breakfast could use some fresh, cut fruits and better process for waffles. Bathroom faucets had low water pressure. Room had fridge but no microwave. Considering those are the only things to suggest, we were very satisfied.

Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Chicago - Downtown, an IHG Hotel
Chicago, 506 West Harrison 🧭 Map
I can't say its bad... But nothing at this facility is great. The fixtures are old, the carpet is worn and you can quiet a bit of noise (never a good sign when they already have ear plugs on every night standh. The bed was kind of lopsided. The toilet tank would need to fill itself up every 10 or 15 minutes. The front desk staff were super nice and accommodating.
I never stayed for breakfast...
This hotel experience was amazing! Rena, one of the staff members made our stay comfortable and convenient considering our flight was cancelled and needed someone to stay that was affordable. Rena was knowledgeable on the area and we had a wonderful dinner and breakfast at the surrounding restaurants she recommended. The hotel was very clean and comforting. I cannot thank the staff enough for such...
So far so good. Room service hours are not before 5pm. Bed is comfy and I'm sleeping great. Hotel staff have been super nice so far.
The rooms were clean, the paint color could use an update. The hotel staff were all nice and helpful. I enjoyed the drinks in the bar, overall great experience.

Rooms were clean and bathroom amenities were nice here. The reason giving 5 stars is that the staff at the front desk and valet that parked our car were amazing. We plan to travel to Chicago again this summer and will stay here again. Compliments...

Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was exceptional. Breakfast daily was great. The few things I have that didn't meet expectations are; the most inconvenient was the parking. There is street parking for $2.25 an hour, ramp parking for $25 each exit, or lot parking 2 blocks away for $10 a day. Next, no ice machines on each floor. Kind of annoying. And last, no way to warm the bathroom up after you...
