Loved it! We were able to check in early for a modest fee and we're upgraded to a much larger room with a couch, microwave, and mini fridge. The bed an pillows were comfy, everything was spotlessly cleaned, and the TV worked great. It walkable to the L, the loop, the mag mile, and navy pier. The only downside was the view of Trump tower (but that is probably why this hotel is such a steal!). I'd stay...
Excellent hotel! You cannot ask for a better location (prime spot for saint Patrick's day with the river going green), the price was fair considering we came from Canada. The rooms are clean and modern, the snack bar on the second level is one of the best for us yet. The only downside was the bed, it was pretty uncomfortable, the mattress could use an upgrade as I don't think they've been replaced...
Customer service very attentive. Rooms are reasonable in cost. Nice snack bar on 2nd floor and bottled water dispenser on every floor. Great room service. Very good pizza restaurant on first floor.
The employees were incredibly helpful and detailed whenever we asked a question. Our hotel room was incredibly small, since we were located at the very top of the building. They offer snacks throughout the day, as well as free coffee. Some people were upset because the elevators frequently had issues. Overall, it was a good stay due to the great location.
The hotel was very accommodating. I'll start by saying that I booked a room for my wedding night and let them know the occasion. They made note of it and decided to give us their best room on the top floor. The quality of the hotel seemed nice and modern. The room was nice as well, but could use some renovations. It was dated and needs a face lift.
We stayed at this hotel at the end of December and it was a great stay. We were able to check-in early a few hours before normal check-in which was super helpful. It was in a perfect location close to everything we were looking to do. We got a great deal on the price, main reason why we stayed here. Not sure if we'd stay here again but for a quick stay it was clean and the staff was friendly.

Room has good space, bathroom is small. Bed is comfortable. The TV is not aligned with the bed, making it a little difficult for you to watch TV. I liked the pillows, they are all made of feathers, extremely comfortable. Internet is very good. Rooms need to be upgraded. Room cleaning is good, not excellent, but for housekeeping to deliver a room in 30 minutes, as a rule, it's great. I think it's worth...
The location of the Hotel is perfect from all the other attractions around the downtown. It is indeed a nice historic building showing nice structure and entrance lobby is actually impressive with nice bar, restaurants and cafe. If you want a newer and modern looking room it will not fit your choice as all rooms are very congested and older looking. If you are into vintage and historical stuff it's...
Stunning historic, well located space near the Chicago Art Institute. Lots of hard working hotel staff who create an enjoyable experience, however, they can only do so much within the constraints they are given. Their grab and go has B to C+ food; furniture is fraying and hasn't been repaired in some areas. All food service is cut off at 9pm. In room snacks are $9 for Smart Water; $12 for nuts and...
I had a great experience. The location is perfect: so close to millennium park and the metro. It was very easy to walk to travel to restaurants, museums, and attractions. The front desk lady, Melissa was so pleasant on our arrival, answered all of our questions, and was so courteous and professional. Her warm greeting was a great start to our vacation. The room was clean and comfortable, the house...
I loved the hotel. Easy to find great location. The hotel is a classic, so many areas are very elegant and grand. Some areas show their age, but none are the crucial ones. Rooms can be on the smaller side, but I did not mind. I had a king-size room, and it felt tight, but it was good value. Parking can seem expensive at $75 a day, but I did one of the cheaper per day options, and since it didn't have...
great interior, castle atmosphere!!! wonderful pool
We were able to walk to mist of our destinations. Perfectly located! The bed was very comfortable, all our needs were met! Yes! The room was clean and comfortable. We were welcomed and all the staff was courteous and helpful.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for the first time during St. Patrick’s day weekend. He had lost his wallet and the hotel didn’t accept Apple Pay or cash for the security deposit even though we paid for the room in advance. The staff was very nice and helpful despite the difficult situation, and luckily we were able to figure it out. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The...
Very nice sized room, very helpful staff and great amenities at the hotel.
Great rooms. Love the clean contemporary design. Known for their workout facilities. Dining options slightly limited, but hotel restaurant food was great for dinner and breakfast. Great spa services. In contrast to some other reviews, our room was quiet and we didn't have issues with noise. We were on a higher floor (5th). Overall had a great experience and relaxing weekend stay with my wife.
My wife and I used the Hotel at Midtown for our wedding. We reserved a block of rooms, rented one of their suites to use to get ready for the day, and hosted a brunch the next morning in one of their conference rooms - everything went great. The hotel manager we worked with, Oksana, was communicative in person and over email, and she was very helpful in getting us set up and touring early on. Their...
No microwaves in the entire facility, restaurant had limited hours and there was no room service, were the downsides. On the other hand, the hotel and facilities were modern and impressive. Plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. If you are very fitness-minded, this is the place for you!
Expensive, but worth the price. Very upscale feel, clean rooms, and attentive staff. Shoutout to Chase working the front desk. You have access to the fitness center facilities while you stay, so if that is something you are looking for, you will be very pleased with what they have on-site. The connected restaurant/bar was also a great experience. The food menu is somewhat limited due to the nature...

We’ve stayed in this Cambria and the one in the Garden District in NYC. This one was more pleasant. Yes, there is some noise from the street but that’s to be expected downtown. The staff was attentive and helpful. The bathroom was much bigger with nicer features than we expected. There was a nice large lobby and bar area as well. At one point there was a lady hanging out in the hallway on our floor...
I checked in on a Saturday night, and it was very hard to sleep due to the loud noises from the traffic and people going to the theaters and stores nearby. Also, it was very hard to get into the parking lot situated on the back of the building, so I recommend to arrive early to avoid all the traffic and people walking around the block that make almost impossible to turn in any direction. However, the...
At best, a room. A clean room but nothing special. The bartender, is a saving grace. She was very polite and quick. One morning they forgot to turn the hot water boiler on.... Since the hotel shares space with a theater, during showings the stairs were faster than the 3 elevators. 14 floors was good exercise...
I had a fantastic experience at the Cambria. My 12 year old daughter and I stayed for 3 nights. The hotel had a great location within walking distance of so many Chicago attractions. The service was excellent and the room was clean. The shower was hot and had great pressure. I was easily able to get it nice and cold in the room at night. We loved the game room and spent time in there each day. This...

Great hotel which was originally the Conrad Hilton. The State of Illinois Pharmacy Board Exam was held here at one time. Upscale hotel with lots of amenities. Very nice rooms, good food, and great views. Located on the magnificent mile, Michigan Avenue in the heart of Chicago. There are a number of attractions within walking distance of the hotel and of course you can always hale a cab.
Absolutely GORGEOUS hotel ? and convenient to local parks, the fountain, and restaurants. Staff were all very nice and helpful if I needed anything. Room was decent and clean. Fitness center was probably the nicest one I've ever seen in a hotel. Highly recommend.
Attended an event here at the Grand ballroom. The hotel is beautiful and the Grand ballroom even more so. The walls and ceiling were covered in paintings and ornate molding. The service was very attentive and the drinks we were served were great. The dinner was delicious too, especially for a catered event. The beef was cooked nicely and the sauces and seasonings were on point. I would enjoy coming...
This is a great old school hotel, I think built by Conrad Hilton himself. I found a great rate that included parking, which makes this place a great find right downtown. The room was a 1 king bed, which was a little smaller than new hotels, but perfectly good for 1-2 people. The only 2 minor issues I saw was having to be aware to keep window curtain closed or you’ll become very familiar with the...
Best part about this hotel is the convenient location. This establishment is considered historical landmark and it's located right at the heart of Michigan Ave. There are two restaurants inside the hotel and fitness center as well. Overall, when taken a closer look, there are more items out dated as far as interior details then not. Was really hoping for windows where we'd be able to look out but,...

Decent gym… but the hotel room was dirty. The people before me must have been hairy people because it was everywhere. The halls also needed shampooing. As for the mattress… no bugs just dirty and hairy. Also no mattress covers. Decent lobby area and good for large gatherings. The food was decent. I loved their banana pudding!
We stayed here almost a week and each day has been an amazing experience. I typically don't right reviews at hotels but I was so impressed with how well this location takes care of you even while there is several large events taking place. When we contacted the front desk at least three times they provided detailed information that was so useful and seemed to genuinely care about our experience. This...
Great views from our room. We had two adults in our room and one of the queens was more like a small double bed. It wasn’t an issue but if it were my family we would not have fit. Pillows are like clouds. My favorite part. Hotel is very clean. Easy access to the conference center or downtown. There are two restaurants and a market which has a wide selection of beverages and take and go food. The...
Awesome place. The service: Excellent. The rooms: Well appointed and meticulously clean. If you can get a room on a high floor, worth the extra money. Check out the views from my south-facing room! Not to mention the easy access to the lakefront. Went for a morning run on the lakefront. See the sunrise over the lake! Totally worth the price.
Check in process was smooth, front desk agent was very nice. Our biggest complaint with the hotel was that the pillows were so awful that it made for a poor nights sleep. I’d suggest they replace pillows immediately (this seems like such a minor thing and should be an easy fix. I wanted to knock 2 stars off for this but the rest of the hotel was great so I didn’t.) Side note - we paid for the breakfast...

Expensive compared to the other convention hotels at the McCormick place. But worth the price. The lake side room has amazing Sunrise view. The M lounge is good with std hot breakfast , coffee and snacks. Very well lit and has a very modern touch to it. Had a hard time getting to the parking area as there was an event so they closed it off but once we circled back around it was open. The staff was so helpful on the phone and in person. The little Cafe like area is perfect for a quick snack. The room was super nice and had an amazing view
Location to McCormick place perfect. The hotel amenities, fit and finish are beautiful and well-appointed. The m club is gorgeous with a well-stocked snack, coffee, and refreshments center that is expensive. The breakfast is very good. I highly recommend this hotel and if you can get the m club upgrade
I attended a business gala event, but did not stay at the hotel as a guest. However, the hotel lobby and banquet room was absolutely gorgeous so I'm sure the rooms are spectacular. Everyone I encounter that worked there was extremely professional. They also have valet parking, which was a huge plus and the deciding factor if I was going to attend. The room was much nicer than expected. Great view of the canal for the st Patrick Day events. The hotel.location was perfect. Walking distance to lost of shops and food. The list of restaurants in the room was a great help in deciding what to eat. Staff was friendly.

The staff was friendly, prompt and overall outstanding. This applies to the front desk, serving staff in the restaurant, employees in the market and more. The location was perfect and in walking distance to restaurants, museums, shopping and amazing activities. The lake view from our room, amazing. We were very pleased with our stay overall.
Excellent rooms, clean, newer and great location. The check in was great, and upgraded the room for a nominal fee. Had two issues, one was my suit needed pressed and was promised back at 8 am, it was misplaced and arrived later in the day around 3 pm, the staff was nice and helpful but it was late and caused unneeded stress. Staff was so accommodating and so friendly. Window views are amazing! Beds are dangerously comfy! The hotel lobby and bar is neat, such a good atmosphere. I think the rooms are so cute and modern! Mini fridge has the good drinks too :) I love how dark the hallways are and how dark you can make your room. Late checkout is a plus!
Very comfortable stay with great service. Location was perfect for someone wanting to walk or uber to major tourist attractions. Only downside was that the rooms were a little dark in terms of lighting and our carpet was damaged in some areas.
Perfect location close to shopping and sites. The rooms are comfy and quiet and the staff is very friendly. Try the James cocktail at the bar - delicious. Free coffee in the morning and wine and cheese in the evening. Would definitely stay here again.
The in-room dining is next level. So is the room with the projection corner & day bed. Loved it!
I've stayed at The James three times, and consider it my fave retreat from a hectic life. Trader Joe's across the street, great location for those who visit Chicago for shopping. Prime location for downtown! Stayed here for 4 days & the rooms were clean & cozy.. Leo was on point delivering drinks when needed.. The open shower was extremely neat, the curtain wrapped around to close the entry to the bathroom.. The water was hot & the pressure was just right! The only con was how the ac unit was positioned.. Other than that, I would stay here again and definitely recommend.
Great customer service here. I stayed for a 1 night leisure trip with friends in a double queen room. The rooms were spacious and clean. The location was perfect and I felt very safe walking around. My only issues were the fact that there was no continental breakfast, and the patio area was pointlessly locked through our stay. Excellent location and team at this hotel. Unique and trendy atmosphere. Rooms are modern and the shower is top notch. Grab a drink, breakfast, or dinner at the Albert — it’s excellent. Valet service was great. Elevators are plentiful and quick. Leo & Cleo (robots) board elevators with you from time to time, pretty neat. Really enjoyed celebrating my BF’s birthday, and choosing this hotel!
This the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. The staff is world class. As a retail manager I’m very attuned to customer service and this team is incredibly impressive. Very nice hotel. Large work space if you are working in the room. Everything worked like it should have, clean and fresh. Loved the hot water heater for tea. I hate having to run water thru a coffee maker for my tea. Front desk had my room even though I checked in at 9 am, very professional and courteous. Meeting room and function services on point.
This is one of my favorite hotels to stay at in the city. The bed in this hotel is hands down the best I’ve ever slept in. Everything here is high quality, and the amenities are awesome. The staff are always pleasant and super helpful (especially Cedric the valet!) The fitness center is nice but I really miss the pool. I would consider it a top hotel in Chicago!
Rooms were clean and as advertised. Staff was helpful, friendly and professional. Common areas appeared to be clean and well maintained. Great location, great views! The higher the floors the better! The fitness center is located high in the sky with amazing views of Navy Pier and the city and the lake and the river. They also boast “wooden” room key cards, a cool talking piece.

Very accommodating! This is a gorgeous hotel with beautiful lobby and lounge spaces, and most importantly very accommodating policies and staff. I was staying with my cat and was so thankful for how welcoming and thoughtful they were about your pets. They provide a door hanger that alerts staff that there is a pet in the room. I kept the privacy hanger on my door as well so that my kitty wouldn't...
This hotel is beyond words. The design has captured it's Victorian beginnings into the roaring twenties in the newest upgrade. I could feel the good energy left here over many years. This is also the greenest hotel in the city with recycling and no excess plastic or paper. The staff is so kind and helpful. Sean and She's stand out. All staff were appreciative of the history. The mailbox is just...
Great prices for how upscale it makes you feel. The staff is super friendly. The room was kind of small but that's not a huge deal. Everything looked really nice. Would stay again. Also if you have to check out and have luggage they will store it for you free of charge
The hotel itself it interesting. The staff are kind and helpful. The only real complaint that I have is how small the rooms feel and how thin the walls are. You can clearly hear conversations happening in the next room. Otherwise, it's a neat place to stay.

Staffs is enthusiatic, friendly. Location is good, very near Whole food market, near shopping center and restaurants. In general, my family feel very enjoyable with this hotel, if there is chance to come back Chicago, my family surely will choose this hotel once again.
A very mediocre room. I booked the 2 queen double beds with a city view. I was placed on the 19th floor. Cleanliness: The room had traces of the previous guest. Some trash in the bathroom garbage and the one of the 2 glass cups they gave you seems used. The beds were clean, as well as the toilet, sink, and tub. Room: The view I had wasn’t great. I was able to see the pool below, garage across the...
Can't beat the location, rooms need a refresh, noisy ac. The bathrooms were good though. Service is excellent in the hotel but we forgot some things in the room and it was nearly impossible to communicate with housekeeping (and even the front desk was overwhelmed and didn't always pick up) to get them back. We gave up after spending 1 hour dialing and being transferred.
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The service provided by Justin at the Starbucks and Ashley at the checkin counter provided superb customer service. This location is close to the navy pier and the mag mile. I would definitely stay here again.
Good clean, quiet, hotel. They have hot breakfast to go options which is great for business trip stays. Also within walking distance of many key activities, restaraunts, and tourist destinations in town. We felt very safe walking to and from the hotel even at night, it seems to be a good area. Fitness room was surprisingly very well equipped and well maintained. It had one of those sprinting treadmills...
Friendly, helpful staff and nice atmosphere in the hotel. Used the hotel as a base while me and my Son visited Chicago. The hotel room was a good size and warm and clean. Two Queen sized beds were very comfortable. Would definitely stay at this hotel again
