One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast experience. The spread was not only generous but also featured a marvelous selection of dishes that catered to various tastes. However, one suggestion for improvement would be to incorporate more Asian food elements into the breakfast menu, providing a diverse culinary experience for guests beyond the usual bread offerings.
Moreover, the cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel were impeccable. Every corner exuded a sense of care and attention to detail, making my stay all the more comfortable. The staff, without a doubt, were the true gems of this establishment. Their friendliness and willingness to assist with any request made me feel right at home.
In conclusion, this hotel is a hidden gem that offers an exceptional experience for its guests. With a few tweaks to incorporate more Asian food elements into their breakfast menu, it has the potential to elevate its culinary offerings even further. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a superb stay without breaking the bank.
The building is very old with alot of charm and potential, but the rooms are filthy and the service is mediocre at best. We were originally placed on the 12th floor and the morning after our first nights stay my oldest daughter was coming down to meet us for breakfast when her elevator came to a screeching hault and was stuck on the 7th floor for about 40 minutes. Absolutely no sense of urgency from any hotel employee, but the actual elevator company whom she’d reached on the elevator phone did speed over to get her out. It was scary and traumatic, and her back hurt .
As soon as she was out we went to the front desk and it was just another day in the hotel there . I asked if she could order a breakfast meal since that fiasco caused her to miss the breakfast buffet and the guy said “ I’ll see if we have anything left”. But he should have said “ absolutely, we can make her whatever she wants”. The first manager I spoke with was useless but the next one out had the decency to ask my daughter if she was okay. I asked that we be moved to a lower floor so we could use the stairs, he accommodated us and upgraded our room which was alot more spacious….but also dirty .
Both rooms had dust and dirt , and broken things . Housekeeping really isn’t doing their job. We were not in town for pleasure and this hotel stay didn’t make it any better . Wouldn’t recommend or stay again . I am a Bonvoy elite member
Thank you to Jade, who had a wonderful smile every time I came to the desk. It made me feel very welcome & not a bother at all.
Will definitely keep this hotel in mind when I stay in Chicago again.
The laundry room takes credit cards and the machines are new. There is a comfy place to wait for your laundry.
ALSO!!!
the airline destroyed my buggy (mobility scooter). Andrew, the chief engineer, was so kind and truly truly was the compassionate face of Marriott for me.
The airline had knocked some screws off and broke the gear shift.
He made it so I can drive it, though we are still going to have to fight the airline… it is super slow but thanks to Andrew I can still get around Chicago.
He did NOT have to do this. He could have waved me away saying “it’s not my job”
But.. he represented his company with compassion, humanity, talent, and dedication.
I did not feel like a bother. I saw a talented,‘obviously great hire, giving all his attention to help a Marriott guest.
I hope corporate sees this and commends him for his compassion. His effort was worth so much more than standardized practice and marketing dollars. I wish more people did their jobs this way.
Also, the staff here is wonderful.
When I come and go, they greet me like I’m a cherished guest. With the scooter, they open the door for me and smile genuinely, and look me in the eyes.
Also, complimentary breakfast 6:30-9:30 weekdays. We’ve stayed at other Chicago hotels where breakfast is $40.
Great place.
Oh!!! This was the historic Roanoke hotel and it just happens to be the largest renaissance inn globally.
The sanitation is cleaned every day. There is a 7-11 downstairs and Target is a few blocks away, so shopping is very convenient.
In the center of downtown, not far from all major attractions, the location is unbeatable
Thanks to you, I had a good night’s sleep and rested comfortably before leaving🇺🇸
