Reviews
We chose Avanti Palms due to its close proximity to the parks and because the photos online made it look absolutely beautiful. To start when we made it to our hotel for our 6 night stay we were informed that there is a non refundable resort fee for every night of the stay, which is fine, but we should have been informed when we paid for our room 4 months ago. The hotel is NOTHING like it looks online. We got to our room which seemed fine, but by morning 1 we were already having issues. EVERY single morning we have woken up to literal saws going off in the hall and our neighbors alarm being so loud we hear it through the incredibly thin walls. This is our honeymoon and we haven’t got to sleep in even once. Next, this is 5 days in and our bed linens have never been changed and the trash was just taken for the first time yesterday. The water in the shower takes 15 minutes to warm up and not even half way on it gets so hot it’ll burn you and once it’s warm you can’t turn it down. Room service doesn’t answer the phone, the front office doesn’t answer the phone, and management is never here.
I recently stayed at this hotel with my pregnant wife and 3yr old child and, unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Upon arrival, I found cockroaches in the bedroom which was incredibly unsettling to which they move us to another room , rooms have mould on the roof which are poorly painted over , To make matters worse, the customer service was poor — staff seemed uninterested in addressing any concerns and was down right rude other than the account lady who’s job wasn’t to help us she was lovely enough to assist , Despite requesting housekeeping, the rooms were not cleaned daily which added to the discomfort and poor form once again, floors weren’t swept , bins wasn’t emptied and beds wasn’t changed when they finally did they wasn’t cleaned or swapped they were made to which I had to argue with them again over to put fresh sheets on. My pregnant wife cleaned the floor just to prove how disgusting it was pictures included.
The food was both overpriced and undercooked making dining a major disappointment. However, on a positive note, the pool was well-maintained and enjoyable, which was the only redeeming feature of the stay.
I’m thoroughly annoyed that my family’s first USA trip was ruined by this hotel I WOULDN’T recommend this hotel based on my experience.
We had two beds so decided to ask for another room for a king size bed. Walked into the second room and it had two joining rooms and there was water puddles on the floor from where the air conditioning had been leaking. When I told reception they asked me what we had done. So got accused straight away. So we decided to stick to our original room - both rooms looked grubby. Later on tried the shower. It was loose on the wall and took ages for the water to warm up. When it did it was way too hot and couldn’t find a suitable temperature that didn’t burn my skin. The shower is great if your 4ft and was more of a trickle. I felt I’d get a better wash from the sink at the end. Tried to use the safe which looked like it could be easily picked up and taken out of the room. Buttons wouldn’t work first off. So didn’t end up using it as didn’t trust it.
Went down for breakfast the following morning to think it would be a continental, maybe all you can eat. You get one voucher a day where you choose one meal and one drink. The orange juice came in what I thought was a sauce pot. Very poor breakfast choices and not nearly enough for what you pay. I was disgusted.
I actually wanted to leave within the first/second day but couldn’t figure out how to leave.
Spoke to another British person who felt the same. We asked if they also got charged a fee for using the “amenities”. The receptionist told us it was for the pool and the gym. Which I thought you could use the pool considering you've paid for the hotel.
The other British person got told his fee was for WiFi and parking:
I would NEVER return to this hotel. Waste of money and a total let down for Orlando.
The rooms are dirty. All rooms are outside entrance, like a motel. The door doesn't close fully, so there is an inch gap to the outside. Every room has water leaking from the AC units to the outside walkway. The mini fridge leaks inside the room.
Check in and out was awful. A bald man sat there, looking pissed off, and did nothing, while a single person does the work to check everyone in and out. A third woman ran back and forth from the back room, eating a snack and cackling loudly about how she was locked out of her computer.
Check in had two people ahead of me and took 30 minutes.
The bald man on staff did nothing.
Check out had 1 person ahead of me and took 25 minutes.
Bald man and snack lady on staff did nothing.
One person checked people in/out. You also have to pay an extra fee even after you've paid for the room, $50 of the $86 is refundable after check out.
We were so disgusted that we left after 1 day and went somewhere else. I just took the loss since it was non refundable.
The single good point is that it is super close to Universal. That is it.
Stay away. This place is not any place to stay if you have any standards. Go to Universal Surfside.
While the room was better, the hairdryer did not work and then the replacement one also… did not work. Unfortunately the electricity went during bad weather so our food went off and room was really hot but this may have not been in their control. My girlfriend was also harassed by a homeless man who claimed he was just out of prison and had to run away from him which was not great while in the car park next to the gym . Staff did say they’d report this to the police though and check footage.
The gym was clearly not maintained whatsoever and while it would do, it could be far better. The treadmills did not work and the machines are rusted and weights don’t represent correctly. Photos do not represent the place accurately and it does give motel vibes.
Location was good and the shuttle buses were very handy which was a positive which many places in walking or Uber distance. We were not in the hotel often but if you were to be, I’d sooner go more expensive.
In my previous review, I stated how I couldn't have wanted more from my experience.
That changed with this trip.
I am getting married in less than 2 weeks and we wanted a quick getaway to unwind before the wedding.
I called the hotel several times before the trip so that I could lock down all the details and make some romantic upgrades.
I couldn't get past an unending phone tree until a few days before check in.
We get to the hotel, the building our room is in smelled like a public bathroom. Everywhere.
The room was fine, but of course, none of the requested upgrades. Nobody cleaned the room while we were the. No new towels until the last night when I called the front desk.
The staff was attentive and friendly, the food at the pool bar was fresh and tasty, and the lobby is beautiful.
Presentation and execution at every other step of this hotel was a complete disappointment, especially after how amazing it was just a few months ago.
