The food was really good too. Everything tasted great and the portions were just right. The next day, (we had a late check out as a benefit for our platinum amex), the staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in and check-out smooth.
It is a bit pricey, but I think it was worth it, especially if you want to wander downtown. The pool was a nice surprise—clean and warm, even in late November.
We’re already talking about coming back in the summer. This wasn’t just a stay; it felt like a small win, and I’d love to do it again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Stay at The St. Anthony – A Birthday to Remember!
Our one-night stay at The St. Anthony in San Antonio was absolutely spectacular! It was a last-minute trip to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and as a longtime Marriott member, I have never felt more special.
From the moment we checked in, the experience was exceptional. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the hotel drew us in with its perfect blend of historic charm and chic, posh elegance. I had requested a room near my cousin’s suite, but to our surprise, we were upgraded to a beautiful corner suite overlooking the park—a wonderful and unexpected treat!
The St. Anthony Bar service was truly top-notch. We headed out to enjoy the Pearl Brewery area and when we returned to our suite, we found a rich slice of chocolate cake and a thoughtful note from the staff—a classy, heartfelt gesture that made the night even more special.
Having stayed at many Marriott partner hotels and Hyatts downtown, I can honestly say that the personalized, boutique-style service at The St. Anthony stands out above the rest. Every detail made us feel valued and celebrated.

On this stay, we checked in around 5PM. Our room was not ready. We were told it would be 5 minutes. We checked back in 5 minutes and the front desk response when we asked whether it was ready, was "I know check-in is 4PM, but that does not guarantee your room will be ready then." It was very disappointing to have this reaction.
Also, a suggestion... It would be nice if the hotel offered room service or had a restaurant or bar that stayed open a little later - when big events are occurring downtown. We came back from the Paul McCartney concert and wanted to wind down before heading to our room. There was no place to get a snack or drink in the hotel. A small annoyance.
The St. Anthony will always be wonderful, but this time it just wasn't quite as wonderful.

Despite its age, the hotel is impeccably maintained. My room was spacious, with high ceilings, vintage furnishings, and a beautiful blend of old-world luxury and modern comfort. The bed was plush, the linens crisp, and the bathroom felt like a private spa.
I especially appreciated the little touches like the evening turn down services.The onsite dining was exceptional, with classic dishes prepared to perfection and an atmosphere that captured the elegance of decades past. This hotel is more than a place to sleep — it’s an experience, a retreat, and a tribute to the city.
