Reviews
Great location, 2 bedroom suites (we are a family of 5 so this was a bonus), and inexpensive.
Cons:
The rooms are dirty and infested with mice (you can see the droppings in the pictures), the beds are old and uncomfortable, the rooms were clearly constructed poorly (i.e., broken and misaligned trim, gap in the main door that lets cold air in), and the decor is very outdated. I swear everything is from when they first opened. The stove looks like it should be in a museum.
Verdict:
I would stay here again in a pinch. But I would find a better alternative.
- The front desk girls were so friendly and kind.
- The location can't be beat; 10 minutes into downtown, Stanley Park, Capilano Bridge, etc
- The pool is great on a hot day! Only 8 people allowed at a time though and you have to sign in and out at the front desk.
- Overall clean property/rooms.
- Grab and go breaky was decent; the chocolate chip cookies were a hit!
Cons:
- Seriously outdated and not well maintained. The TV was fuzzy cable channels. As we were checking in, another guest was talking to front desk about the towel bar in their bathroom that was not attached anymore... Very old decor.
- As much as I appreciate encouraging composting, a garbage can in the room is still needed and was missing.
- The "AC" was not cooling, we all slept without blankets even with it on the highest fan/ lowest temp setting
- Hot tub was not working, not sure why?
- Smell of cigarette smoke throughout the room, despite it being a non-smoking room so we all woke up very congested.
- Pillows were mini, like half-size pillows...
The only downsides were that the pool / sauna were not on yet and there was no gym. Also, the breakfast was very simple - just a grab and go muffin, cookie, granola bar, fruit.
However, despite these downsides, the hotel was still great for the price, and we had a good night sleep.
Upon my move in Oct 31st 2022 I was in Rm No 118. I asked to move rooms due to the staircase waking me throughout the night. While I was moving from Rm 118 to Rm 144 looked under the 2 queen size beds. I found much debis and it was quite dirty under the beds.
I checked under the 2 queen-sized beds upon moving to Rm 144. It wasn't as dirty but definitely wasn't clean.
Tonight I was putting groceries away and found previous guest's freezer burnt "Great Value hash browns from Walmart ". I took 4 photos. I called the front desk and stated what I found because they had a freezer burn odor, telling me they had been in the bar fridge a while.
I took the photos to show front desk.
I am not someone to complain. Between the hashbrowns left inside the bar fridge and filth under the queen sized beds, in 1st room I didn't feel housekeeping was up to standards.
I wish to say house cleaner SAM is excellent, both cleaning and professional.
Again, I'm not someone to complain but the cleanliness of the rooms are not acceptable. I do not intend to get a cleaning person in trouble. I just want management to have a meeting with the cleaning people to have them look after fridge and underneath the beds upon a guest departing. .
I wish to reiterate how professional SAM is. She goes above and beyond it seems. She has been extremely helpful.
Thank you for my stay. I stayed here 1.5 years ago and didnt notice uncleanliness.
Thank you for your time regarding my feedback.
I do have photos of the fridge if you wish to review them for training purposes.
I don't know if cleaners have cleaned under Rm 118.
I'm bringing this to your attention because aside from cleanliness I feel you're running a safe motel.
Thank you.
