Big spacious rooms, really affordable, clean, and perfect location between Stanley park and Robson square. We arrived at 10:30am asked if we could drop off bags and the room was already ready 4 and half hours early. Best hotel experience couldn't be better.

It is filthy and has very unsafe steps, no elevator, dirty beds, old TVs, and no coffee machine in rooms, The Bathroom has just a few towels to use, ugly and old bathrooms, Etc....
Check other hotels for better deals. It is hard to get your refund in any case through the hotel front desk. There is a very noisy bar under the hotel.

I gave 1 star only because of the location, and the building is beautiful ( or at least was). The rest is mamma mia! Dirty, worn-out, unpleasant. The worst beds we EVER had in all our travels. Even my kids couldn't sleep. Mattresses are very bad for the back. I was happy to leave.
This hotel could be a wonderful place with the right management.
The cleaning ladies were nice ones I complained. We entered the room, and it was FOR SURE not cleaned after the previous guests. Piss all over the toilet, shaved hair in the sink, just disgusting!
The room has a door to the next room . Neighbor was smoking weed and was super loud. We could hear his mobile phone ring in the middle of the night like it was in our room.
It is a perfect location for visiting the downtown and the price is ok, but maaan, I would pay more and stay in a cleaner and quiter place.

We are giving a two star because of the room. The carpet in the room was so stinky that we had to go to the reception try and change room. Unfortunately the hotel was full.. So we were provided with a bottle of Febreze to spray on the carpet. The odor of the carpet was really strong, and one of us has allergies, so it was unbearable with a runny nose and sneezing constantly. The hotel itself is old but OK. Not so So clean. it’s old and we did find a couple of humidity bugs running in the washroom… the bed is ok. Ordinary doublebed not that great in comfort. And old linen. We sleeped on top of the sheets. This was in September 2023. The location is excellent. The staff is very nice. but this clearly needs some renovations And upgrade. The price is reasonable for Vancouver. But I will pay the extra next time to have a better quality.

It's an old hotel. Involves a very strange set of stairs. The lobby is very bright with tons of marble. Very affordable place to stay. Rooms weren't the cleanest, but definitely not the worst I've seen. Like I said, it's an old hotel, you get what you pay for. Front staff were very kind. Tons of restaurants/shops nearby, and a really cool arcade bar downstairs.

Con: we stayed in room 123 that appear to have 0 sound proofing. Both my partner and I are deep sleepers but had a terrible sleep. You can hear every conversation in the Holloway and every door closing or opening. I would have easily paid an extra $80-$100/ per night to stay somewhere with actual sound proofing and feel
Rested in the morning. I will consider staying again in the upper floors (if the sound proofing it better) but will not recommend the 1st floor without good earplugs.

Really impressed by this hotel! Such good value and great location. The reception and housekeeping staff were very friendly. After reading previous reviews we brought ear plugs, however we didn't need them. I will highly recommend this to anyone else staying in Vancouver! Cora next door is a must for breakfast, particularly their early bird deal.

I've stayed here four times now (in off season) and it's often tough to find a room given how popular this hotel is. Prices are fair given the facilities, and staff are helpful. Rooms are clean, and some are pretty well updated. Beds are comfortable and sheets/linens clean and fresh.
A few rooms could do with some updating, but the staff are pretty responsive to feedback. A few reviews have mentioned the manager, but if you give him a chance the slightly brisk manner gives way to being helpful and chatty.

Great value for its price. Location is super convenient. They provide towels, soap, shampoo, hair dryer in the toilet. My room doesn't have kettle in it but if you ask they will lend you one. Room is tidy and clean. It does have thin wall which you can hear people talking but I personally don't think it's too bad. Staff is friendly.

This hotel is very worth it for the price! It is simple and clean and in a very good location. The premises are definitely old but everything was as advertised and if you just want an affordable, simple place to rest in a central shopping district, I highly recommended Barclay Hotel!
