We stayed there for one night.
First the pros:
The air conditioning, which didn't work at first, finally worked thanks to the help of reception (they had to replace the batteries in the remote control). It was quiet and efficient.
Ten minutes from the airport, with a €20 taxi or a nearby bus.
Now the Cons:
First impression:
Bad smell upon entering the room.
We had read several reviews complaining about bad smells coming from the bathroom and the sewers, but we took a chance because the owner answered that they do not have sewers in the building.
I believe she was right as we were familiar with this smell, and it's not coming from the sewers, but from a dirty mop. In our building, the cleaning company employees sometimes use dirty mops, and it's exactly the same smell (a kind of rotten smell).
To confirm this, when I walked barefoot on the floor, it was sticky... so the mop was probably not the best...
Second issue:
There was no hot water, not even lukewarm. The water wasn't cold, but rather lukewarm. I needed a hot shower (especially after a flight, and I really needed it), but I had to give up, which was a huge disappointment. I tried the handle both ways and waited for more than 1 minute for the hot water to appear, in vain.
As it was midnight and we had to leave the hotel at 5:00 a.m. for our next flight, we were too tired to ask for help or for another room.
There are other drawbacks, such as the pillows being too big and hard for me that I had to put them aside after an hour of trying to get some sleep, in vain again, and used the towels instead.
These drawbacks are really unfortunate, because I think that with a little more attention from the owner, this charming hotel would more than deserve a 5-star rating.
Important tip:
The electrical outlets comply with British standards. Remember to bring adapters to charge your phones and other devices.
I booked a room with a baby crib.
I have two children, aged 2 and 3 years.
I was planning to stay for one and a half nights (I was going to leave the hotel at 2 a.m.).
When I arrived to check in at 7:00 p.m., the staff member at the children's section refused and went to ask the manager.
She then came herself, and with complete rudeness, told us we were liars!!!
She accused us of lying and said we had not requested a baby crib.
Liars!!! — she said it to our faces, so rudely and directly!
At that moment, I lost my temper — how could she tell me I'm lying?!
Even if the crib request isn’t showing on your system, that doesn’t mean I’m lying.
I opened my booking confirmation and showed her clearly that I had requested a baby crib.
I’m not a liar.
Even after that, the rude woman didn’t apologize. She just said, “Let’s move past this — if you want the room, you have to pay €40!”
I told her I don’t need breakfast, the crib, or the pool.
I just want to spend a night and a half before heading back to my country — I’m here on transit because of the war in my homeland.
None of that mattered to the rude woman. She took advantage of the late hour and the fact I had small children with me to pressure me into paying in a manipulative way.
All of that was easier for me to handle than her rudeness and accusing me of being a liar.
The pool is clean and very nice to use.
I wish check out was later, and they let us check out later if hotel is not full. On the other side, they had no problem keeping the luggage and using the pool even after checkout so thank you for that! :)
Overall I had a great stay.
