Magical and awe inspiring ..like youre in a fairy tale .
Nestled amidst a picturesque landscape, this castle boasts a surrounding moat stepped in history, where you can escape and relax. We were astounded when we spotted an otter swimming gracefully in the moat - an extraordinary, magical, and rare experience.
Nestled amidst a picturesque landscape, this historic 17th century castle boasts a surrounding moat steeped in history, where you can escape and relax. We were astounded when we spotted an otter swimming gracefully in the moat. An extraordinary, magical, and rare experience. The hotel offers complimentary car parking and free WiFi. We stayed in the junior suite in the castle. The room was spacious...
Extraordinary buildings renovated in a lovely way to fulfill the five star feeling of the hotel (this really old stone and brick castle). Fireplaces with live fires going in the evenings are cosy. But be prepared for the smell if you are sensitive. The fine dining experience is a thing I truly appreciate and recommend!
A not so classy Castle. Sort out your breakfast. A beautiful castle just off the road to Hamburg. Service wise, almost great. Only real let down was the exceedingly expensive breakfast that was really not worth the €30 that for 3 people almost felt like extortion. Some cold fish, a few cheeses and some tired looking charcuteries. Pancakes were fine as was the scrambled egg and bacon. But an extra...
Castle converted into a hotel with an outside restaurant ( used also for weddings). The location has parking and it is usually not crowded. As a customer you get also free access in the back, into the castle garden. I was just visiting, so I can't write about the hotel part anything.

Small, but comfortable rooms. Perfect for one person. Friendly staff. Recommend!
Nice hotel with excelent breakfast
I stayed here for 3 nights. The service and friendliness of staff is the best I have experienced anywhere in Europe or the US. Whatever I asked for it was done - from reception. The breakfast staff were exceptional. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Thank you for being so welcoming and helpful.
Old fashioned hotel, definitely would not rate 4* Breakfast was ok, nothing extraordinary. Good location with shuttle bus
Super friendly staff, extremely old fashioned place - even for a best western.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, but they are small. The bathrooms are also clean and tidy, but also small. Nevertheless the hotel is nice, breakfast is very good and the restaurant has good food. It is not a brand new hotel, but worth the price.

Lovely and guest oriented hotel in green area This hotel lies in the greener outskirt of Essen, ideal for cycling trips or to visit tne Ruhrgebiet without the rush of a city centre. We had a very comfortable stay. There is a lot of eye for detail in this hotel. For example: we had two racebikes with us which we could park securely in a special and fully equipped bikegarage. The breakfast was well organised...
Lovely spacious room, very friendly staff
Guests rave about the friendly and attentive staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay.
Great Hotel, great restaurant. The waiter really makes every evening special, an excellent host. Nice rooms, dog friendly, great for children. A lot of room to play around or to play in the pool..The staff goes beyond what you may expect to give you a great time. We will be back for a third time real soon:)
Very clean rooms. But unfortunately the climate in the hotel room was very poor. It was hot and humid. Also, in my opinion the pillows were too large and too small. Furthermore, the hotel itself and its facilities were outdated. Therefore, I would not recommend this hotel.
Everyone at the hotel was helpful and able to answer any questions we had. There was always someone available. Thank you for a delightful stay! Also, the food was delicious!

Plesant suprise. We booked the hotel appartment as it was only a 2 minute walk to the Messe Essen. When pruce for taxinor train is calculated into the total cost of being further away from the Messe the appartment really becomes a very good option. Appartment was spacious. We got an appartment on the 5th floor with a privat balcony. Very clean and neat and you can bearly hear any traffic nor other...
Absolute Gem! Mintrop's Concierge exceeded all expectations. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment I stepped in, I felt right at home. This contemporary apartment hotel is impeccably clean and meticulously maintained. My XS apartment was perfectly equipped with a kitchenette featuring a dishwasher, 2-burner electric stove, microwave, fridge, and all the essentials for cooking and snacking. But what truly sets Mintrop...
The rooms (at least the suites) are big and have all necessary amenities like a kettle, fridge, tresor, tv and balcony. The location is ideal if you are traveling by public transportation and have business on the Gruga Location/ Messe Essen. The only negative is, that there are some but not a lot of parking spaces that belong to the hotel.
Close to Grugapark . Staff very friendly
The hotel is a short metro ride away from essen. Unfortunately this stops at 23.00hrs so its a taxi or walk 45 minutes to get back. The area has good facilities with several pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The staff at the hotel are brilliant and room we had was ideal for our needs. Clean and tidy with a small kitchen area and a balcony. Excellent value for money.

Holiday Inn Express Essen *** This is a budget city hotel with basic amenities. The property shows its age, which is noticeable in certain details. Clean. Big room but soundproofing is not very good! Close to the city center
The hotel staff works hard around the clock to keep things clean. The breakfast buffet was always fully stocked and really clean. I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it.

I liked the room decoration, fueniture and amenities. That it is not noisy and it is very clean. Also liked the restaurant. Didn’t love that we had to book in advance for a table at the restaurant and we didn’t know this.
Very clean, modern and very supportive staff. Would definitely stay here again.
This hotel is really clean. I was treated to room service everyday. The spa was beautiful well kept and lots of relaxing seating. They had tea on the go whenever you want. The hotel location suited me because i was visiting my family, but the area is very isolated not much going on. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. I did not have breakfast because i thought it should've been included!
We stayed at Heiner's as a family for 5 days. There is very little to fault. The Hotel is very clean and spacious and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This hotel is situated on a favorable location for people who want to have access to public transport (central train and buss station Gelsenkirchen), stopping mails and the Gelsenkirchen city centre. It has simple but sufficient facilities and rooms. And the price to be payed for the room is okay. Because it is situated in the city centre there is always some noise of course.
Quite a strange experience. Perfect location, close to central Gelsenkirchen, railway & bus station, parking, restaurants, etc. Rooms are clean, comfy. Nothing special but good for staying overnight. Not a high price hotel, but offers the main you necessities you need, ranging from morning free breakfast to nice packing and quiet locations. Thing to improve though is their clean of rooms though. But the staffs are super nice and understandable.
Very good Hotel for Events at Veltins Arena. Equipment is adequate and clean. The price is great for the location. Good eating options in the vicinity.
To suggest, as the times before. For 90 Euro in a double class! All very friendly, courteous. Since care of the guest. A point deduction, since the otherwise very nice room with HUGE bathroom, very noisy. If the room is neighboring the faucet run to tear it from the bed. The Breakfast is totally sufficient!

We like the room , window in the ceiling . Good food .
My mother and me booked for this hotel lately, and we loved it! The hotel has the right balance between moderately fancy interior designs of rooms and floors, and practicality. The Staff are friendly, polite and helpful when needed. Simply put: Highly recommended for anyone visiting families or friends in Gelsenkirschen. Also a good place to get away from work pressure or vacation time. Cheers!

Nice, family owned place. Old building but nicely kept up, rooms are small but adequate. No air conditioning, but weather was nice enough. Great location right next to shopping and outdoor cafes. A little noisy on Saturday night!
Great location with plenty of bars and restaurants in easy walking distance. Always a good welcome at the Buerer Hof, comfortable rooms and a good choice at the breakfast buffet. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast is excellent. Very close to public transport for easy access to city centre and beyond by train or road.
Clean room with good beds. Did not hear neighbors or outside noises.Very sweet woman at the reception. She had all our information from the booking by hand already. Checkin and checkout were fast. Breakfast was nice and there was a lot of choice in foodsn drinks, yoghurt and fruits.
Great deal for a local hotel with tickets for Movie Park Germany, and a pleasant place to stay. However, there is more road noise than than I can sleep though, and the bathroom has no extractor.
Fair price, near the metro station that goes directly to Messe. Good breakfast. Check-in possible only during day.

If you are low and on the front you may have street noise (the hotel is on a crossing) and the single rooms can be quite small. If you are up or at the back, on a double room they are ample. Essen business stay Room was quiet. Shower good and hot. Hotel manager was great. Not far from Central Train Station. Only issue is there are no bars close and not many restaurants within a 10 minute walk but if you walked 10-15 minutes there were a fair few options

An unencrypted WiFi is a no-go for me. But I wasn't able to use it that long anyway, cause it was first super slow and broken on my second day at the hotel.
This is a family run hotel in a suburb of Essen, within easy walking distance of museums, art galleries, shops and restaurants. Friendly staff, comfortable beds and good German breakfast. Apart from the refurbished bathrooms, the hotel has a 1980s feel to it, solid and reassuring. The only downside is finding somewhere to park on street. I would definitely use it again.
Clean rooms and good breakfast. The hotel is in a quiet district near the city centre (~5 minutes). The only problem is that only a small part of the staff speaks English.
