Tulip Inn Frankfurt Airport

This hotel has a bad cancelation policy. In our case we had to cancel our holidays because my step dad has passed away and we need to stay home to support my mom. We canceled our two rooms 4 weeks in advance (this stay was on the way back from our trip) and it wasn't possible to get a reasonable refund despite the circumstances (they charged 90%). For a hotel I think this is a ridiculous policy. Luckily we have good travel insurance so it doesn't matter for us, but if this were my hotel I would have a more customer friendly policy and/or I would have waived the cancelation fee because there is plenty of time to fill those rooms again. Strange way to make money, we will not be booking with this chain again.

Edit in response to the hotel: I understand that the cancelation policy affects the price but (1) I think that for a hotel the default policy should be way more lenient. You should be able to offer reasonable prices without requiring a 90% cancelation fee when canceling 4 (!) weeks in advance (2) I specifically asked for a waiver of the fee given the circumstances. We have travel insurance so it doesn't matter for us, but it would have been more gracious if you had granted it. All other places on Booking for which I requested this given our circumstances actually granted it. It's strange to act as though you "can't". Of course you can, it's a choice. Anyway, I have more important matters to attend to, I wish you good luck with your business.
