**Absolutely Horrible Experience – Threatened Over Ketchup and Mayo** I have never written a review on TripAdvisor but after what I experienced in the Roof Restaurant bar I felt compelled to and hopefully, I will save people some money from this scam. I’m beyond appalled by the way we were treated at Roof Bayside Resturant. What was supposed to be a simple meal turned into one of the most stressful dining experiences I’ve ever had, all because of a miscommunication over ketchup and mayo. We asked for ketchup and mayo, assuming it was a standard condiment with our meal, (the menu was not on the table) only to be told later we had to pay an extra 24 euros for it. Had this been communicated clearly from the start, we wouldn’t have had an issue paying. However, instead of handling this situation professionally or clarifying any confusion, the staff *threatened* to call the police on us. Over condiments! This was a shocking overreaction and completely ruined our experience. There was absolutely no need to escalate something so minor into a hostile situation. The staff’s behavior was rude, intimidating, and entirely out of line, they laughed and talked amongst eachother. We felt like we were being treated like criminals over something that could have been resolved with a simple explanation or conversation. For a restaurant to treat paying customers and guests at the hotel this way is unacceptable. Not only was the service appalling, but it showed a complete lack of respect for customer service. We won’t be returning, and I urge others to think twice before supporting a place that treats its guests so poorly. Disgraceful.

You pay way more than they told you! Parking prices too high. It’s dirty and some things needed to be updated. My parents visited this place too an didn’t liked it. The breakfast was bad and the employees unfriendly. Never again visiting this Hotel.

This was our first and last stay at the Bayside. We had high hopes for this hotel and were unfortunately bitterly disappointed. We get one point/star for the location, which is beyond reproach. However, we didn't feel like value for money at all, as the service and cleanliness did not live up to the 4-star standard in our opinion. We also felt like we were not valued guests on a few occasions. The staff were apparently more concerned with their own advantage and sometimes behaved very selfishly towards us. I have never experienced this in any hotel, especially one that has the standards that the Bayside itself conveys. We also had the impression that the management does not try to see complaints about poor service as an opportunity and to compensate appropriately at the end of the day, but on the contrary seems to do everything in its power to reject them. During our stay we spoke to some locals (taxi drivers, etc.) who reported similar experiences from other guests. There was also talk of problems with the staff. Perhaps there is even something fundamentally wrong here. In any case, we are certain that, given the level of service we received, coupled with a price level that was completely unacceptable, and all of this coupled with this type of complaint management, we will not be coming back.

The Bayside is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The first walk into the lobby was sobering - a very dark and uninviting atmosphere. The lady at the reception was not very enthusiastic, but at least friendly. The rooms were also fine at first glance. On the first evening we went up to the roof bar for an aperitif. The staff were extremely unfriendly and condescending, especially to us ladies. They also took a long time to serve us our drinks, even though it wasn't overly busy. The breakfast has a good selection, but you feel like you are in a huge canteen on a cruise ship. The only nice room cannot be used for breakfast. The staff are lazy and simply do nothing, preferring to make phone calls. The housekeeping is not thorough, they neither wipe down surfaces nor vacuum the room. Pajamas are simply thrown somewhere. Towels are not provided in the necessary quantities and only after requesting them. The wellness area and the pool are not very inviting. The water is infinitely cold and the terrace is dirty. We had to get cushions for the loungers from a storage room ourselves. The highlight in a negative sense is the Coast restaurant - the service was very friendly and helpful, but that didn't help. The food was not seasoned, burnt and floating in oil. The wine was warm and when we asked for another bottle, we were not given one. In summary, the service is absolutely abysmal. The staff are poorly trained or not trained at all and most of them speak so little German that communication is hardly possible. The staff at the Roof are brazenly macho and slow. The housekeeping simply doesn't clean and we were stupid enough to tip them at the beginning for no service. Overall, the price-performance ratio is absolutely not appropriate. The hotel and the food are far too expensive for the lack of quality. Even our taxi driver felt sorry for us because he had to take us back to this horrible place. Absolutely not recommended - the money could be used more sensibly (by burning it, for example).
