I was initially quite confused by the mixed comments of this place before booking, but I had a great experience with it recently (not sure if they got an upgrade recently).
I was on a solo trip and stayed for several nights in one of the single rooms at the attic for a discounted price. The room is compact with limited natural lighting and is featured with a "head-banging" vaulted ceiling. But it is compensated by the cosy layout of the room and the facilities provided. There are 4-5 sockets in the room that are easily accessible. The heating in the room is adjustable and can be quite powerful, which was essential when the outdoor temp was near-zero. The shower is clean, with consistent hot water and strong flow. Their swimming pool is small but clean. However, the water in the pool is quite cold when first got in.
I didn't have breakfast there because I was elsewhere engaged. The staff from the front desk and room service were both friendly and helpful.
It is at a convenient location, in proximity to a tram station, with city centre in walkable distance. The area is very quiet in the evening.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience.

Room/suite was beautifully presented, clean and welcoming. The shower was excellent with space to move, strong water pressure and almost instant hot water.

The location is superb, the rooms are nice and clean and the staff is super pleasant as well - we always enjoy our stays at the Maritim WÜ!

Excellent hotel with very friendly, welcoming staff. Environmentally conscious also with a beautiful pool. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!

I booked this hotel at the last minute in order to be with my uncle in his final days. Just a few hours later, I got the devastating news that he had already passed away. When I immediately called the hotel to explain and ask for a refund, credit, or even just a voucher, I was met with shocking rudeness and total indifference.
Not only did they show zero compassion or basic humanity, they also lied about the possibilities. The staff claimed that because I had booked through a third party, they couldn’t do anything to help. That is simply false. On the same trip, I had booked another hotel through the exact same third-party platform, and that hotel showed empathy and canceled free of charge — even just 12 hours before my arrival. The difference in attitude could not be more stark.
To make matters worse, this hotel admitted that they would still be receiving the money for the room from the third party. So in addition to showing no empathy, they chose dishonesty and greed.
This is not just poor customer service, it’s a complete failure of decency. I strongly warn others to avoid this hotel — there are plenty of places that treat guests as human beings, not just as money.

The space, location and service were amazing. By far the best place I’ve stayed at in Wurzburg and it was relatively affordable.

Everything was good, location and breakfast were very good. Except the Sauna is not free of charge and is not mentioned upfront.

Quite old building from the 80s which would need a renovation. Many choices for breakfast, but not always good quality (e.g. the cheese was cheap mass production)
