Alexander The Great Hotel

Excellent value for money for this little gem of a hotel. The entrance is very unpretentious at a narrow street near a Greek church. Yet the rooms are spotlessly clean . Towels are delivered in sealed plastic cases. There was warm welcome and genuine effort to help from the hotel staff. The location is also strategic and excellent with most of the interesting sights within a 10-15 minutes walk. Alexandria Biblioteca is about 1km away and Quaitbay Fortress is also about 1km away ,while the middle of the bay is about 500m away. And the price was surprisingly low for such quality

13th floor view on the city and part of the Mediterranean Sea, clean and huge space with very great value.

This inexpensive hotel has a main building with three stories and an annex building nearby with ten units in an 18-floor building. Check-in is fast and easy at the front desk. Mina, the manager, is friendly and helpful and speaks English. I rented a roomy studio on the 16th floor of the annex that was comfortable and had a great view. Comfortable bed with loose sheets (unfitted.) Kettle and microwave. The elevator is very slow. Wifi is the weak spot here - Alexandria runs mostly on DSL, so speeds are much slower and signal drops are very common. This is not a suitable location for those who depend on wifi for work or time-sensitive access. Be aware that the power is cut every day from 1pm to 3pm.

There is a gas stove for cooking. Ask staff for cookware and utensils. A supermarket is a ten minute walk away and various street food places are scattered through the general area. The neighborhood is busy and noisy and adjacent to the downtown area.

I relocated to the main hotel building because I wanted access in and out easily during the daily power cuts. My room was quite large and comfortable, but there is a school directly across the street and the noise level can get very high. Earplugs highly recommended. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable, again with loose sheets. The wifi is poor, with frequent drops.

The facilities are clean and housekeeping is available every day. Room service as well, with breakfast (150EGP) and dinner (300EGP for chicken, 500EGP for meat) available every day. Tea and coffee are offered in the reception and lounge area.

Staff is responsive and polite. A good value for a short stay and close to downtown. Bus and train stations are a quick cab ride away.

I loved the place and I was really suspecting the service and the rooms as I had a very bad experience with low budget places.

But the budget wasn't very low giving the facts that we were Ina High season which is 1000 EGP/ night.

I knew that they have apartment and theybare good from my friends review.

My room was perfect In terms of size, I even had the room to do my yoga 😅

It's mainly a vintage style with neat and organized furniture and a very wide bathroom.

All kind of things could be found, such as a Air-condition, heater, fridge TV etc.

Highly recommended

One more thing, the Rooms with a view are a view on the church with a balcony but has a less size than the one I had.
