Hotel Coronado Thalasso & Spa

Come here only if you love to be SCAMMED.
This was our third or fourth stay at the hotel, so one would think returning customers are welcome but we were so wrong! We booked a double room with a sea view. Upon arrival we are taken to a room which had nothing to do with what we’d booked- it was under the front swimming pool, full of mosquitoes, and definitely did not have the sea view we’d booked. Honest mistake you would think but this happened for the second time already. In 2015 we were also put in a different room, without the receptionist mentioning it upon checkin. They were just hoping we wouldn’t notice. When we pointed put this wasn’t the room we booked, we were immediately moved to the correct one, which was available. So they are just trying to downgrade you hoping you won’t say anything! No doubt there are instructions from the management.
OK, this was behind us. During our stay the restaurant personnel was very slow, even mixing up our order. We didn’t change the meal and just took the wrong one, since we didn’t want to wait for another 50 minutes and just enjoy the sun.
When going to the buffet dinner which is about 27€/pp, we were refused because my partner was wearing shorts. We’ve been coming here since 2015 and it never was a problem but suddenly men must wear long pants for dinner even when it’s almost 30 degrees outside and you just want to enjoy the terrace. He was very properly dressed- a white suit shirt, moccasins and dark shorts but OK. We were offered to eat at the a la carte restaurant, which we refused. No thanks, I would not like another wrong meal after a 50 min wait. We went to the nearby 5* hotel and it was muuuch better. That is where we will be going if we come back.
The BEST PART was upon our checkout. The reception personnel was very apologetic for the initial misunderstanding with our room and they said they cared about returning customers and hoped we come back. Being very precautious we checked the bill before we signed. And of course, the lady didn’t even finish saying how they are sorry when we discover items we didn’t use on the bill! Seriously? The worst service just trying to rip you off, watch out!
The hotel is now adding new rooms, rebuilding the restaurant, no doubt with the goal of charging more for these new amenities. Dear Coronado, I strongly advise you to upgrade your level of service and stop the scam. You already charge enough, but if these guys in the new rooms are charged even more, they’ll expect a different level of service.
