Hotel Atlantic El Tope

I booked a sea view room for my birthday getaway, and despite paying extra for it, I was given a room without the view. When I raised the issue with the reception, they initially claimed the sea view rooms were more expensive. After showing them my booking details, they then stated that the poor weather meant the view wasn’t good and suggested tomorrow would be better.
Regardless of the weather, the room I paid for and expected was not provided. This experience has left me quite disappointed, especially as this was meant to be a special trip. I hope future guests don't face the same issue.

Please ensure that extra charges are only applied if the services can be fulfilled, as that's robbery!

Money and sunglasses got disappeared from the room

Our money and RayBan sunglasses were disappeared from our hotel room. Money was stolen from two different purses and one purse was INSIDE of my bag. We suspected it was taken around breakfast time when it was the only time we left our money in the room. SUSPICIOUSLY, OUR ROOM CARDS DID NOT WORK THE SAME MORNING. We thought it was a technical issue but later the receptionist said our check out date was wrong in the system (RIDICULOUS, because she before asked with her mouth if we are leaving X time).

And we did NOT take the sunglasses out of the room for 3 days, so there was NO WAY that we lost our minds and lost everything at once somewhere else.

Generally, receptionists were extremely careless towards the situation, told that we might drop things under the bed, and indicated the police station’s location on the map in case we want to report 🙂

We also asked them to check the card access to our room. Then they showed us that we were the only people entering the room (it did not even show the cleaning staff entering the room). But the most problematic part was TIME STAMPS WERE WRONG. SO we couldn’t confirm the times we were actually in the room. God forbid if any other crime happens in that hotel, no one will know what happened when.

We see many old people visit that hotel, probably with tours but if you are rather a young family or couple, avoid going to that hotel.

There are more reasons than stolen valuables for not going to that hotel:

Construction is continuous for the whole weekdays, everywhere is noise and dust, so absolutely no chance you can rest there.

Rooms are worn out (you can see the pictures).

Pool is dirty and cold.

Never coming back again nor recommending.

I had an incredibly disappointing stay at this so-called 4-star hotel. The staff, especially the waiters, were rude and unfriendly. While I was at the buffet, one waiter holding a cup of cola sighed and spoke to me rudely after a simple misunderstanding—very unprofessional behaviour.

The food was terrible too—everything tasted the same, clearly frozen and lacking any real flavour. For a hotel claiming to be of high standard, this was shocking.

On top of that, parking was an absolute nightmare. In Tenerife, renting a car is essential, but this hotel offers severely limited parking. I spent 45 minutes searching for a spot, only to be told by the receptionist that I couldn’t park near the hotel, despite there being an open space with just a cone. He gave no valid explanation and showed no interest in helping. I ended up parking 2 km away and had to walk 20 minutes back, which is unacceptable, especially when I have luggage to carry in the morning.

This experience was beyond frustrating and ruined my holiday. Avoid this place at all costs if you want decent service and a stress-free stay.

I booked in this hotel through my travel operator. Today, less than 3 weeks before departure, my operator was suddenly informed that this hotel is in extensive renovation, that several floors will not be available and that the restaurant will move. Fortunately, we were able to find another hotel on short notice, but this is no way to treat travel operators that book with you and their customers. This could have been mentioned earlier. This hotel shouldn't be taking any bookings now. This is a warning to other people considering booking: the hotel may notify you very late that you will be staying in what is basically a construction site now ..; or maybe they won't notify you at all because they still put rooms on offer for this time.

If you want a view such as this one from your room choose this hotel. Floor -2. (No reason to pay for the room with a balcony) Be prepared that there will be no parking space for you. The swimming pool is extremely cold and you can swim in it if you’re an arctic penguin.
There won’t be double bed in the room as well, just two singles joined together. Room is equipped but really poorly.
However The food is great and hotel looks nice. Staff is polite but not too helpful.
