Scandic Pohjanhovi Hotel

Super friendly staff. We stayed in a different accommendation where we could not leave our luggage after check out. The lady at the reception in the Scandic helped us as we stayed before two nights in the Scandic in Tromso. Thank you so much.

Excellent location, most of the restaurants are in approx 3-5min walk. Beautiful river in front of the hotel. Bus stop to Santa Claus village in front of the hotel. Safartica, Artic GM 2-3min away form hotel. We stayed in the new part of hotel in a family room. Excellent breakfast with a big choice.

Really good view of frozen lake. Good service and best kindly. Room is charming on rustic way. Restaurant is nice with tasty food and experience staff.

I was working in Finland and needed to stay over the weekend in a mediocre town with not much to do, so I decided to jump in the train to Rovaniemi. I picked this hotel as they have some balcony rooms and my sole purpose for coming was to try to catch a view of the northern lights. I didn’t have appropriate clothing for traveling into the wilderness to find a spot free of city light pollution so was really hoping that they would be strong enough to be able to see. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed. From my 5th floor balcony, they seemed so close that I could almost touch them. What a magical experience!

With regards to the hotel, it is a little dated but extremely well placed. The food is decent. Great breakfast selection. Family friendly. I had the sauna to myself at 6pm, which was delightful. The staff were so friendly, that makes for a better experience in general.

The room was ok. Comfortable bed. Small mini-bar. TV and a really comfy chair. I spent the first part of my night in the comfy chair watching the sky and waiting for someone to turn on the northern lights. I then alternated between sitting inside looking out, and going outside over the period of 3 hours while the light show was playing. Fantastic experience!!

As for the location, the hotel is a really short walk from a shopping street with lots of restaurants, shops and a mall with a cinema. It’s also walking distance to Arkitum museum and Pilke science center.

All-in-all, this was an exceptional experience and well worth the cost of the room with the balcony.

Lovely hotel, we stayed in the new section of the hotel which was very easy to access from the street as well as the underground connection between the main reception. We really enjoyed it.

2 buildings - we had a room in the new building, connected by a tunnel with the main building. Very clean and bright room, great view - directly at the river. New, comfy beds, big and clean new bathroom.
Breakfast was included - good choice, fresh food, clean huge restaurant with river-view. Very friendly staff everywhere. Lounge and small bar at the reception, also snacks and coffee/tea as well as some stuff for everyday life.
Sauna and 20m long indoor pool (0,95 - 1,8m deep) included.
Bus stop in front of the hotel - Santa's village, airport and railway station directly in reach.
City center with lots of bars and restaurants as well as shops within few minutes of walking.
Highly recommendable place to stay.
