ibis Styles Clermont-Ferrand République in Clermont-Ferrand

I was staying here as part of a large group of people and didn't book this hotel myself and nor would I have done if I had read some of the previous reviews. Pluses - Air con (it was very hot during our stay). - Aside from one very rude staff member, all of the staff were super-friendly, efficient & helpful and patient with my basic French. - The hairdryers was adequate. - The breakfast is plentiful and was included in our price but the choices are limited and one morning they ran out of eggs. Minuses - All the rooms - including the reception area, the breakfast / bar area, the hallways, and the rooms themselves but particularly the en suite bathrooms - need a good clean but more than that, a complete refurbishment. - The photographs advertising the rooms are very deceptive as the bedrooms are very small and very dark with tired and peeling décor in depressing greys and browns. - Our bathroom had rotten woodwork around the door and the floor. The tiles had mould on them and the area around the completely useless shower head was rusty. - The shower itself was designed for tall people only. As I am not that tall, by the time the water reached me, the pressure had all but fizzled out. As I have very long hair, I had to take the shower head down and hold it over my head while simultaneously trying to wash my hair which took ages which was not good as the shower temperature frequently changed from scalding hot to freezing cold. - The lighting in all the hallways, our bedroom and the bathroom was very poor. - There are only French TV channels. It would have been nice to have at least one in another language.

We visited this hotel in the summer and left again.... This hotel is not finished (no restaurant, wifi, entrance, etc). Room was only for 2 instead of 4. The information on the website is definitly not correct.

Very extensive noisy building work was in progress, bits of masonry, plaster, lots of dust in lifts stairways, and corridors. Noise from builders all day. The owners show greed and disrespect to their customers by staying open while this work goes on. The fourth floor really stank, a combination of fresh paint and sick, maybe urine. The internet never worked in the rooms. No coffee makers/kettes in the rooms. Terrible place. Staff quite friendly!

English version (version française juste après) Back from our holidays in south of France, we stayed one night at the ibis styles Clermont Ferrand République. We booked a room here (instead of our usual hotel) mainly for cost saving purpose and it was a mistake. First, the lady at the reception was super friendly and very welcoming but the room (a standard family suite) was super tiny (no space between the sofa bed and the window, a tiny passage between the bed and bathroom, an unfinished or sloppy bathroom (see pictures), uncomfortable mattress but the breakfast (even if it was a small area) was copious. So we don’t recommend this hotel and we’re not going there again. Version française Sur la route des retours, nous avons passé une nuit a l’ibis styles Clermont Ferrand République, choisi (au lieu de notre hôtel habituel) principalement pour faire des économies et c’etait une erreur. D'abord la réceptionniste était très gentille et accueillante mais la chambre (standard family suite) était très petite (le lit sofa était collé a la fenêtre et il restait moins d’un mètre entre l’autre lit et le mur de la sdb, une sdb mal finie ou négligée (voir photos), des matelas pas très confortables mais le petit déjeuner (même si la zone était petite) était copieux. Au final, nous ne recommandons pas cet hôtel et nous n’y reviendrons pas.
