The hotel is just round the corner from a pedestrian street with lots of bars and estaminet restaurants with typical local food. The rooms are of different sizes and layouts and my Privilege room was perfect for the price. I enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard at the back of the hotel which has synthetic grass and lights. You can get drinks all evening. The staff were all very nice, especially Corentin at reception who let me visit a few rooms and the night receptionist Ilyes who served me glasses of Chablis till very late on Saturday night.

Lovely rooms with windows which actually open! Air conditioning worked brilliantly too. Really good buffet breakfast with hot and cold choices.

We stayed with 2 kids ( 5 and 7 years old) in Lille old town branch of the Mercure. The location is very good if you want to explore the old town on foot.
The room was clean. They had prepared a bed sofa for kids. For young kids it was ok. The room had a loft etage and the main bed for parents were upstairs. It wouldn't be practical if we had toddlers.
Bathroom and WC were separated. WC had no air ventilation. Thankfully the bathroom had a window. After taking a loo you have to switch room to wash your hands.
Breakfast was bad. Very limited options. It was mostly fruits and sweets.
For only 1 night, it was ok but would I prefer to stay there again? No. Especially for longer stays.

We were totally upset with the service we got from the Mercure brand. The room was not clean, we found black Adidas sockets from previous guests in the couch where my kids slept during our stay, the floor of the WC was wood parquet, and smelled urine, there was condensation on the bathroom windows, and no aeration in the entire room, the breakfast was very poor, the acoustic is very bad, it is noisy, you hear people in the terrasse even from the 2nd floor with windows closed. We are very surprised that the hotel has 4 stars, it looks like a cheap pension than a 4-star hotel. The only good point is the location, but it doesn't compensate for how dirty the rooms are.

The location of the hotel is itself a reason to choose this hotel as it is located in the old town of Lille and a 10min walk (with young kids) to the shopping centre. Around the hotel there are some nice restaurants and bars. We had the family Duplex room (124) which was very very spacious. Room was clean, and the windows could easily be opened for some fresh air. The beds are comfortable but the sofa bed is really meant for children to sleep on as the sofa was a bit old. Lady at the reception was also friendly.

Very well located. Two-not of the good restaurants of the street of Ghent and the centre. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Room comfortable and very clean.
