Ikos Olivia Hotel

Our visit to Olivia was 12th trip to an Ikos resort so we consider ourselves experienced guests. When we book an ikos hotel we almost always pay for deluxe we chose this standard of resort and accept the high costs as normally we consider it good value and struggle to match the standard else where. Over the years of choosing ikos for our holidays both with our daughter and as a couple with and without friends we have always received the standard we have grown to expect and often it has exceeded our expectations, however this time we were seriously disappointed. I’m going to start with the good as there were good things to be mentioned The deluxe pool staff service was exceptional and the whole team needs a mention from remembering our drink preferences ( there were 6 of us) to helping us to have lunch in the new sitting area by the pool as we quickly tired of lunch in either Provence or Ouzo The room 723 was beautiful the fairies!!! Were brilliant and very efficient The resort it’s self was very clean and well kept as expected The disappointing things now we are very sad to say but We arrived and when we got to our room the wine and beers I had requested were sat on the side not in the fridge and our welcome bottle of Tattinger was not chilled as we usually find it we were so disappointed not to be able to open the bottle and have a toast as has become a ritual for us when we arrive at an ikos. The next morning we chose to have breakfast in Flavours we were taken to a table right by the hedge over looking the sea a fabulous spot but in seconds we were surrounded by wasps the hedge was literally alive with them obviously we moved where another couple said to us we wondered how long you would’ve stay why on earth we were seated there we do not know. The next day we had breakfast in the garden a lovely restaurant but again we were plagued by wasps. So I went to complain to reception I was told that they new of the problem and they do have a person to visit now and again and my response to that was well they need to visit asap as it’s ridiculous. The staff we spoke to about this were very apologetic and said they had told the management on several occasions my husband almost ate a wasp at one point. 2 days later the deluxe manager came to me and said they had had a visit from pest control and they found 2 nests clearly they had been there along time for there to have been so many wasps. Why was this left until I complained to be sorted. This was a management failure in our opinion the wasp situation then disappeared We had lunch in flavours as there was only province and ouzo restaurant which we were disappointed with. to chose from OMG the service was dreadful we waited ages for wine there was food all over the floor which was not cleared whilst we were at our table. We had our food and sat chatting the plates were not cleared until we left. I went to get desert to find the counters had been cleared and no one had come to let us know that the
