Reviews
Not expensive and with a great location near the beach and quiet kolymbia for restful nights (there are still plenty of bars and shops open late) but also equal travel by bus to Rhodes town or Lindos so easy to get around.
The rooms are basic but modern and for a weeks stay you don’t need anything else as you just use it to sleep and shower.
Food was very good, I am vegan and found lovely different options every day so if you’re not then there is definitely plenty for you.
I’m not sure why people are saying the drinks are watered down as every drink I had was very very strong compared to what I’m used to as a British guy in his 20s. Pouring half the glass with the spirits!
The staff are all so friendly and nice, on our last day we checked out at 11 but our flight wasn’t until midnight so they let us still use all the hotel facilities including drinks and food. They didn’t treat you like someone they had to impress though, it was very down to earth and friendly
There are lockers to store your belongings on your last day as well but also storage space that’s free so lots of options.
I’d definitely stay here again and it’s easily the best place I have stayed.
Overview
We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights and the whole experience has been great! From the food to the views and even the pools it’s been such a nice relaxing stay. However there are a couple of things that didn’t quite bring me to give 5 stars which I’ll explain below.
Pools
So starting with the pools as you’ll see from all of the photos that they advertise, the pools look stunning almost like infinity pools! When we stayed which was October, the pool temperature was ambient so mighty chilly with my watch indicating water temp as low as 19°C but as I mentioned we were also in October so this is to be expected. And to add, I believe this is a summer only hotel that closes for the winter so I’m sure it’s normally warmer in Greece’s summer! Lovely way to cool off in a cold water plunge though!
Although the pools look amazing you can clearly see the hotel has had an expansion and the expansion bit (where the infinity type pools are) is where the money has been spent. The older pool is looking a little tired and in need of an upgrade. Luckily they have 4 to choose from!
Rooms
We stayed in the actual hotel building itself, sadly not the fancy pool rooms which look like they have upgraded rooms. Our room was in the main building which was clearly two separate accommodation rooms before and has been adapted to now be one. You can see this from the two bathrooms (either end) and the duplicated sockets along with the duplicated balconies and duplicated lights on one of the joining walls.
The overall room size was great but the downsides were poor drainage in the bathroom, meaning it floods every time you shower & the bed’s were rock hard annoyingly giving me a back ache most mornings.
But apart from that, very nice size, just a shame it’s not the same experience as you’d get over on the nicer side where you can clearly see a lot of the money has been spent.
I should also add this could have been on TUI’s side where we booked, it didn’t show us different levels of rooms or ones with pool views etc so could be the 3rd party booking experience. Luckily we spent most of the time at the pool so not the end of the world.
Food
As an All-Inclusive resort, food was lovely! My partner wishes there was more of a selection but I found the selection was very good. The actual food hall is fairly small, no problem for an October holiday. I do question though how busy this might be in the summer months and how hectic it is then but during our stay it was great with no wait times.
We also got the opportunity to experience Halloween here where the hotel went “all out” on everything Halloween. Honestly I’ve never seen a hotel go that far with their Halloween decorations just for one night. From food to converting the entire food area, staff costumes and more into a spooky experience for just one night.
Price / Location
We booked through TUI at what I thought was fairly reasonable with an All-Inclusive Package. We went on several walks around the area and into Kos (40 min walk from the hotel) to explore and saw alternative hotels but they were more of a city hotel so didn’t have the multiple pools that Niriides Hotel has.
So for the money I think it’s pretty good! They also do have evening entertainment, apparently won loads of awards but it just isn’t our thing so didn’t attend any of them.
Summary
So in short, lovely hotel probably one of the nicest in the area. Staff were all very friendly and always going above and beyond to help. I would probably advise to check how busy it might be during the summer but for us it was very relaxing and peaceful and if you’re visiting when the temperature is around 23° be mindful the pool is shall we say refreshing!
On the surface this hotel looks fine, upon arrival all of the buildings and facilities seem to match up to expectations from pictures, but that's about where it ended for us.
Luckily we had booked a superior room, giving us a pool view, however, the standard rooms look to be either basically underground or overlooking wasteland.
The location of the hotel is only really good if you plan to stay local or you have a car rented for your stay (be warned there are only about 9 parking spaces so you may have to leave your car on the road) but there is a small strip nearby with some shops, restaurants and bars, also the beach is only 10 mins walk.
The all inclusive food was diabolical(see attached photo of "Lasagne", they served almost the exact same food every day for both lunch and dinner, except on a Sunday where they had "Greek Night" which comprised of adding Gyros & Soulvaki to their normal menu. We opted to just eat out for most meals (breakfast was okay).
All inclusive drinks were a complete waste of time if you wanted something alcoholic, I have never experienced such watered down spirits in all my life, it seemed although you could probably drink 100 drinks and still be completely sober.
The staff appeared very miserable and unapproachable and not once during the entire week did anyone actually try to interact with us. This also goes from the manager, who seemed to randomly enforce a "1 alcoholic drink at a time" per person rule for us halfway through the holiday, despite others not having to adhere to this. (As mentioned the drinks were that week that there was no chance of anyone becoming drunk and disorderly anyway, we just wanted a couple to take up to our balcony at night due to the absenceof any other entertainment in the evening).
Be advised, if you are young and especially British, this is probably not the place for you, everyone else at the Hotel during our stay were either German or Polish and seemed to look down at us all of the time despite us keeping ourselves to ourselves, which created a really tense, awkward atmosphere.
The final nail in the coffin came on our second to last day where we discovered that the controls for our air-con had been taken away due to the hotel having a policy of only allowing it between the months of May-October despite it still being 30°c on the day they turned it off.
In summary, not a 4-star experience at all, the place is generally clean and the pool is nice but that's about all there is good to say.
Really disappointed in the service in this hotel and cannot help but feel it was because we were English. Reception staff was very blunt and unwilling to help/understand with any problems. No cocktails or pool snacks in the day, had to pay for juices or anything other than beer and spirits.
Food choices were very limited and only two or three new dishes a day.
Extremely expensive if you want to keep the room on for a few hours - €70 plus €30 to have any towels.
Bedding was only changed twice and rarely given dry fresh towels in the bathrooms.
When we arrived at the hotel our room had wrappers and crumbs from the last people staying there, we were not shown the hotel room, nor told anything.
For the price we would not return.
No smile, and they have an attitude like robots. The room is smelling mould
The Food is no spice tasty and the hotel is more like a turist machine whitout No greek soul
I will not rekommand this hotel, try something else
I am leaving tomorrow, thamk good fore that
Would not recommend.
