Yiannis Manos Hotel Resort

We stayed here across the end of July and into August and had a lovely holiday! Like others, I was nervous due to some negative reviews, but these are definitely put on by exactly the type of people that would otherwise ruin a holiday for everyone due to their own selfish behaviour. Our experience of the staff was nothing but positive, at the bar/restaurant, reception, and the security. Everyone was lovely. The rooms are basic, but we're comfortable enough for our 10 day stay- and most people don't spend that much time in their rooms on holiday, surely just a place to change and sleep? We were self catering and managed to make some meals on nights we didn't want to go out toneat- there is enough room on the balcony for a table for 4 and we had our meal out there before heading off out. The shower cubicle is mentioned a lot, and it is small, but the bathroom is a 'wet room' with a drain in the floor, so we managed absolutely fine. Cleaners came in every other day without fault and emptied bins, changed bed linen and towels and swept and mopped- no complaints at all there! The pool area was great- two pools, one a little livelier than the other with music being played, but not too loud. There was no sunbed wars at all, and never an issue getting one with an umbrella round the pool even in the middle of August. Some days but the pool were busier than others, and yes there are groups of younger guests destined for the nightlife, but we found them to be absolutely fine, just trying to have a good time with their mates. On any occasion that someone got a little rambunctious (which we only saw once in our 10 day stay) the security or the manager came and had a word and all was fine after. Food at the restaurant was very good, and whilst drinks at the hotel bar are a little more expensive than out in the town, they were not unreasonable. The hotel is around a 15 minute walk into town, and if self-catering, I would recommend using the big supermarket for any shopping at the local mini supermarket is quite a bit more expensive. Potamos beach was about a 15 minutes walk in the opposite direction to town, and this beach was glorious and not right near the Malia ***** if you want to avoid the younger crowd- not that there were any issues anyway. I found the whole area very welcoming and safe, I wasn't worried going out for a run on my own, even down some of the quieter back streets. An added bonus for me- there were cats everywhere! The hotel itself has a few cats that reside on site, that are loked after and fed by the security guards and were friendly and tame. This is a budget friendly hotel, and designed to meet the needs of an many people as possible, so there was a blend of young adults, families with small kids, families with teens and older couples and everyone co existed well with each other. After reading reviews before going my friends and I were nervous about whether the hotel would be funny towards us being on a girls holiday. However, this was not the case at all. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a really pleasant stay and would visit again. The only down side about the rooms is the shower is quite awkward to use, but apart from that everything else was really good.

I was worried after reading some of the reviews but, we're having a great time. The staff are lovely, security guards are friendly and helpful, bar/ restaurant staff are really helpful, always checking that everything is okay etc. Situated about 10 mins by foot from Malia *****, this is a perfect location for a family of young teenagers, not too quiet but not in your face loud, close to beaches, supermarkets etc which are accessible by foot too. The pools/ restaurants etc are all of a good standard, food reasonably priced too. Only downside I would say is the shower... very small and wets the floor of the bathroom... but that's the only thing we could say was a negative. Would definitely come again. Booked this as a last minute holiday but really pleased with our experience so far.

The hotel was better than expected, honestly. We always like an apartment for our family of 4 instead of a hotel room, but we did not know we were getting one. Our apartment had 2 large balconies, one of them overlooking the mountains. We watched the sunrise and the sunset from the 2 balconies. Thumbs up for a smart collapsible air dryer on the balcony. If a small plastic dish dryer were included, it would be perfect, or we should have been advised to bring a couple of kitchen towels from home. Only 2 soft mattresses, the other 2 were solid. All the low stars reviews I read prior to departure had nothing to do with our experience. Young adults travelling together prefer this hotel and reading a couple of reviews after the holiday I understand they come from the younger tourists. They go partying and return late, but we were too tired from too much swimming to be bothered, so I never ever saw any "security person" mentioned in many comments :) There is plenty of parking on the plot next to the hotel, though a bit dusty, but roomy. The location is fantastic to access a stunning beach preferred by locals with a great restaurant nearby serving freshly caught fish. Avoid the beach near the ***** if you travel with young children, there is no place for them there with so many young adults that are having fun 24/7 and the prices for sunbeds prices are outrageous there. We did use one of the hotel pools a bit and it was great, but we were mostly on the beach (not the one near the *****, the one from my photos). The food is good, though a bit limited on half board. We also upgraded our eldest child to an adult menu because the children's menu did not include all the dishes on the normal menu. Not all the dishes come with a salad. I would rather have a salad than a plate full of chips that go to waste. Serving is fast though. I would go self catering another time if booking here, just to be able to try more local dishes in other restaurants and tavernas nearby. Besides the grilled dishes there were 4 local dishes on the menu that we had over and over again, they were delicious! I would happily return to this hotel, it was fabulous!

I’ve read some of the reviews on here and totally disagree with a lot of the negative ones , I’ve been going to the same hotel for about 10 years and not had a bad thing to say about it . The staff are and always have been brilliantly friendly funny and very professional, as for the rooms they are clean and tidy , room service every couple of days . In my opinion a very nicely run family hotel , and will continue to frequent this hotel
