Residence Hotel Balaton

The hotel is fine. Nothing fancy but adequate. The staff were all very helpful. Massages were great. My only criticism would be that it is a noisy hotel. The halls do little to dampen the noise from passers by and running children. Still for the price it was suitable.

We've been coming to this hotel several times already, but only last year discovered they had a huge apartment/suite on the third floor. Since then we have turned into absolute *******. The suite offers a huge living room with several sofas, a run-around balcony/terrace, and an ensuite whirlpool. A corridor leads to a walk-in wardrobe, the bathroom (toilet, bidet, sink, walk-in shower), a master bedroom and another bedroom with two single beds. The apartment is kept very warm, which is really pleasant, especially when the weather outside is not so inviting (which was not the case this year, though). There are several playrooms for children and adults, and they always offer activities for kids during the day and early evening. Breakfast and dinner are in a dining hall offering enough place even if the hotel is fully booked. Choice is abundant: a lot of food of all varieties including Hungarian delicatessen, always fresh, always refilled, and always tasty. This place offers some of the best food in Hungary and is also one of the main reasons we love to come there so much. Add their spa on top of that. 2 pools, a whirlpool, and a small baby pool plus a few saunas (Finnish, aroma, infrared) with plenty of deckchairs to relax round off this place. Lake Balaton is a 5 minutes walk (and they have their own private beach in summer). Da capo next year!

We took 3 of our kids to Siofok this time and stayed in their suite, which is more like an apartment - about 100m2 of space: a spacious anteroom with access to one of the terraces, a large living room (2 full sofas with chairs) with a small bar area, from where you can get to the separate whirlpool room that itself has an exit to the second terrace running across all main rooms. A corridor leads from the living room to a wardrobe room, a small sleeping room (2 single beds), the bathroom (large, toilet, bidet, walk in shower), and the main sleeping room. The sleeping rooms, too, have access to the terrace. The suite was very warm - clearly the hosts are not compromising on comfort. The suite was neat and clean as well - great place to stay. The facilities are fabulous, too. The spa offers one big pool, a small baby pool, a whirlpool, and a smaller pool with whirls as well. There are several saunas (plus one ice pool) too. There is a cocktail bar, and the entire area is spacious enough never to feel crowded, even if the place is "busy". Breakfast and dinner are usually included in the room rates, and both offer a large variety of dishes. The quality of the food is outstanding, and so is the taste. You would come to this place for the food alone. Their selection of wines is very good and lets you explore Hungarian wines with pleasure. Last but not least - everybody is really, really hospitable and friendly, and very family oriented: most guests have kids, and the hotel also offers some kids' activities as well. This was a dream stay, and we will come back of course.

We've been to this place in 2017, and the experience this time was even better. The first pleasant surprise was that our room was ready upon arrival already, way before they technically should have had it available. The room was clean and pleasant, but the sleeping place is not the real asset of this abode. What really stands out are the spa, and the food. To the spa: The area is reasonably big and offers enough space for guests to feel at leisure without being cramped. There is one big pool, next to which you will find a small baby pool and a whirlpool. In this corner of the spa you will also have a sauna and ice pool (well, 15° C, but it will still make a difference if you jump in there right after a 90° C sauna). On the other side, separated by a bar like area, is a smaller pool with jets. On that side there are also several saunas, like infrared or aroma. Overall, this place leaves nothing to be desired. Food: their cook is a real genius. Dinner is buffet, and every single dish - of which there are many - rivals and excels many 5* places, easily. Same goes for breakfast. Vast choice of top quality food, every single time. Now, staff: While most of them feel comfortable with the Hungarian language only, you can still communicate easily using a mix of English, gestures, and other languages, but all of them are very friendly and accommodating, very successfully doing their best to make your stay a real pleasure. Bottom line: Da capo later this year, thanks for an outstanding, memorable stay.

We are returning guests here since many years. The kindness of the stuff and the food quality are the main reason why we keep coming back. This year they extended their beach ‘rental service’ with SUP. Rooms are clean, things are regularly renovated. Food is great, our favorite is the grill selection in Saturday evenings. They read and react the feedbacks, so if you would miss anything, just simply tell them!!! During the years they listened and changed those minor things to improve what we mentioned. We definitely will return next year.

We stayed at this hotel in early March. The location of the hotel is very good. The service was one of the best I have ever experienced in Hungary!!! The staff was always helpful. The hotel was super clean, the pools were also nice along with the steam cabin and saunas. The breakfast, lunch and the dinner were really delicious. My only regret was that I really missed a small gym or a room to do my regular stretching and basic workout.

We stayed for 3 nights at Residence Balaton Conference & Wellness Hotel again in mid December. The staff was helpful and kind. Our rooms were super clean. Breakfast was very good. Dinners were outstanding quality!

The front desk represntatives were very nice. Our room was clean, except the spiderwebs between the balconi door and the curtains, also the 7 spiders in the room, that we had to get rid of. One was in the bed. Next morning the cleaning lady used bugspray to scare the spiders away. We still found two between the mosquito net and the balcony door. Cleaning lady was nice and helpfull. Dinner was very good and varied. Breakfast was okay, however we didn't like how the scrambled eggs were too sloppy (lucskos). Restaurant staff were nice. Wellness area is nice. The little private beach area is cool. After all, we had a good time there. I would recommend this hotel.

The restaurants are good, the Balaton is close. The rooms are very good and it’s clean.
The staff are nice and helpful.
