The location is probably not the best for a tourist, but good if you need to catch an early train like me.
I’m honestly sorry to say that, but it was the worst hotel room I’ve ever been in.
Dirty bathroom: dirt and hair on the floor, on the walls, and in the sink.
Very loud: I could hear all night long the ventilation outside the window (that I had to keep closed and still not much help); the moaning neighbor; any neighbor doing their business in the bathroom; music and chat throughout the night from the neighbors (I slept there on a Sunday night).
Sure it was not expensive, but I’d rather spend more money than having no sleep and a dirty bathroom.
First room:
> "Balcony" (it was advertised as a balcony) was occupied with the big machine that keeps the ac for the whole building running. At night - we measured using one of these sound apps - this was about 72dB (!!!) of noise level. This is basically a vacuum cleaner in your room. Running at full power. While you want to sleep. We couldn't even talk. This was an absolute disaster. If someone wants a proof here: this was so ridiculous we even made videos. The first night was horrible.
Additionally, when we flushed the toilet, water was coming out of the flush button. And the shower was partially broken at the bottom where your feet would be.
Imagining that we paid 130€ per night (yes - ONE HUNDRED THIRTY).. I am actually speechless. We requested a room change on day 2.
Day 2 -end:
Extremely loud ac was exchanged with a medium-loud street and the sound of the 24/7 reception and the reception guy talking extremely loud at night. The whole night. This was better, but still this is not an acceptible level for hotels. Never.
Flushing finally OK. Shower as well. However, we found a fresh chewing gum in our bed. If they did just not clean the bed after the room change or if they wanted to send a message.. We will never know.
And never ever come back.
If you really have to book this hotel (and I think you never should): bring many ear plugs. And desinfection.
I booked this hotel for a spur of the moment for a solo trip.
When I arrived and first saw my room (I was in the other building across the road) I was pleasantly surprised. It was much nicer than I was expecting. It was very clean, the bed comfy and the pillows good quality. The shower also had really good pressure. On the other hand the air conditioning didn't seem to be working, the hairdryer worked for just a few seconds at a time and then stopped working for hours and the hot water stopped working one morning, I just had a cold shower and got on with it as I was busy. There isn't a view, which is no problem at the price. The curtains for the windows do not cover all the windows so as soon as the sun comes up the room is light, this made sleeping hard for me as I'm used to darkness.
A major issue was the noise. I was right by the road and the road noise is not any fault of the hotel and cannot be changed in the city centre. But, I don't think the whole of the building is hotel rooms, I believe some people may live there. They do not seem to respect people's sleep. On the Sunday night they came in at 4.00am blasting music. It was a repeating theme and the walls seem thin. Therefore, I did struggle to get a proper rest.
Safety and security was an issue. On the first day when I left my room in the morning, the main front door was open to the street and a random man had got in. He asked me if I could help him and he needed somehwere to stay. I pointed towards the reception building and told him to go there. He said he had no money to which I said I have no cash sorry. He said he would come with me to the cash point and I got a bit panicked at this point and said no and walked away quite quickly, he started shouting at me down the road. The area sadly seems very deprived.
When looking on the map you can see the hotel is only around 10 minutes from Loreto Metro, which has convenient lines for getting to all of the tourist attractions. As a solo, female traveller I didn't feel safe in this area when travelling to and from the metro. If you must book to come solo here like me, do NOT go down Via Padova to get to the metro, there is another road which feels slightly safer. On Via Padova there are lots of groups of men loitering and they will all try to stop you and talk to you and it made me very uncomfortable and I felt unsafe. The area is not what you expect as a tourist when you come to Milan.
Update: after much trouble, they admitted that the price was only 15€, as stated on booking.com. We got a refund, but only after mentioning the problem multiple times.
