Reviews
Hotel Galilei is a practical choice if you need to be close to Pisa Airport and Pisa Centrale train station. However, despite being rated 4 stars, it feels somewhat overrated. The rooms are clean and functional but show signs of wear, and some can be noisy due to poor sound insulation.
The location is in an industrial area, which is not appealing or safe to walk around at night, and it’s quite far (about 3 km) from the historic center and the Leaning Tower. If you want to explore Pisa, I’d recommend staying closer to the city center.
The staff is friendly, and the breakfast is decent, but overall, the hotel doesn’t quite meet the expectations of a 4-star property. Suitable mainly for short stays or travelers with early flights or train connections.

Ah, Hotel Galilei Pisa — where the stars in the 4-star rating must be from a parallel universe. Or maybe they just meant star-shaped stains on the carpet?
Let’s begin with the welcoming committee: an entire army of ants in the room. No exaggeration — I half expected them to ask for my passport. Then came their friends: silverfish in the bathroom, clearly on some sort of insect package holiday. When I told reception, they didn’t seem shocked — just handed me a can of bug spray like it was a minibar item. Très chic.
The hotel itself feels like it was built in the 1960s and then promptly abandoned — until now. Tired, run-down, and possibly held together by optimism alone. The sink was bright orange (a bold design choice… or rust?) and the shower had two settings: “dribble” and “Niagara, but sideways.” Bonus points for it being as clean as a motorway rest stop.
WiFi? Don’t make me laugh. It dropped out more often than a high school rebel, and every time I closed my phone or dared to go outside, I had to log in again. Because apparently, the ants don’t like guests hogging the bandwidth.
Breakfast? More like brexit — I exited after day one. It looked like it had been sourced from the bargain bin of a petrol station. I ended up walking to a café down the road where the croissant didn’t stare back at me.
And finally, if you enjoy sleeping next to a family of chair-draggers with a passion for midnight furniture rearrangement, you’re in for a treat. The walls are about as soundproof as a wet paper towel.
Overall, if you’re looking for a retro entomology experience with added sleep deprivation and a side of instant regret, Hotel Galilei is the place for you.
Please provide a reasonable explanation as to why my group from Taiwan needs to be seated separately, in another area with screens, far from the ‘local people.’ Additionally, it seems that the variety and types of breakfast are different.
If the explanation is reasonable, I will update the comment.
If not, this arrangement makes me feel uncomfortable.
But the staff in the reception was very helpful.
