B&B Hotel Firenze City Center

The rooms are an overhaul of a more dated hotel. They give the feeling that it is still a work in progress, but it has some small issues in the whole building. I don't usually complain about hotels if the main things are good, bed and bathroom - but that was not grand.

Rooms were clean though.

This review is based on a recent three-night stay at the turn of the year (2023/2024).

Pros: Service at the reception desk and in the breakfast room was excellent. Staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Variety of breakfast items met our needs. Hotel location is also very good (easy walk into Florence's historic city centre).

Cons: The rooms. We asked to be moved after the first night, as we could still hear a lot of traffic noise (room facing the main street) even through the closed window. Worse, however, were the mosquitoes (YES, mosquitoes in Florence in the winter!) and the paper-thin walls. Our replacement room was better only in that it didn't face the main street. We still had the problem with the mosquitoes and noise from adjacent rooms/corridor. The overall condition of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired (walls especially in bad shape). I wondered more than once if the building used to be a student residence of some kind, as hotels typically have better soundproofing.

So, if you value peace and quiet at night and a mosquito-free experience, I suggest you look elsewhere. The staff are definitely the stars here; the rooms aren't!
