11 of us arrived after travelling from the states. There were adults and children 10 to 15. The first night we decided to eat at the hotel as we were tired, hungry and did not want to travel far.
The hotel restaurant was excellent. They made accommodations for all of us and made several recommendations regarding the foods. Everyone got something different and we shared family style. Everything was perfect. Each meal was prepared to perfection. The food came out all at once (for a large party very impressive) all hot and delicious.
The suggestions from the staff was enough fill everyone and also leave room for some delicious desserts. The head waiter (I think Francesco?) was remarkable. He was like a conductor in an orchestra.
It was one of the best experiences we had during our stay.
That is not hospitality — especially not in a boutique hotel that prides itself on recognition and awards. It’s truly a shame, because the hotel itself is beautiful, but the service seriously detracts from the experience. I understand they deal with many tourists, but that should be even more reason to show empathy and kindness, not irritation. As a traveler, I was simply looking for guidance and a bit of courtesy — not to be made to feel small for needing help.
The room we received was the SMALLEST room of the group.
We were told that since it is a old building that has been converted into a Hotel that all the rooms were different.
They offered us 2 other rooms that were only slightly larger.
I understand the "European Standard" but the bedroom and bathroom were uncomfortably SMALL.

I would book elsewhere for my next trip to Florence.
We were on the final leg of our honeymoon, ending with three nights in Florence. Our hotel room had rocks in the bathtub, a full ashtray from the people before.... and it was HOT in the room. Uncomfortable hot. Keep in mind this was late November/early December. Here, the front desk controls the temperature of the rooms - you have to ask them for any changes. Six hours and three trips to the front desk later, it was still sweltering in the room. Told us maintenance would be there in the morning, gave us a small plastic fan.... and that was it. Three nights of really uncomfortable heat. The most they did for us was to send a bell hop up to the room... looked at the thermostat and simply said, "heat is off". When I asked him why it was still hot in the room, he nodded and agreed it was really hot in there.
We met two other couples who were having a similar experience.
There are SO MANY hotels in Florence... don't take a chance on this one, especially if you care about a comfortable night of sleep.
