Hotel Alpha

This little gem was the perfect base for our family trip to Sorrento. Close to the station, we had many trips to the surrounding sites, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Amalfi. The hotel is clean with very friendly staff, special mention to Marco, has a lovely restaurant for breakfast and dinner and, although used daily, the pool was never overcrowded. It was close enough to get to Sorrento without having the crowds that are found there too.Would definitely go back.

This hotel was amazing from start to finish. On arrival there was cold water available at reception and the staff were friendly and welcoming. They provided all the information we needed and got us to our rooms quickly. The rooms were much nicer than i expected from the pictures. They are comfortable and modern with good a/c. I had considered upgrading the rooms, but i didn't need to. The room was great. The best part of this hotel was the restaurant. The half board option gives you a three course meal each night with waiter service from a menu. Not self serve like alot of places. The food is lovely and the staff are great. The pool area is fine with a decent bar and the size is fine for the number of guests. Thanks to all the staff for an amazing holiday. It made or 25th anniversary special. Thanks to Guiseppe in the restaurant and Marco on the bar and all the staff on reception.

Everyone and everything is spot on

We've had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the Alpha. A gem of a hotel, the staff are amazing & welcoming. By the end of our holiday it was like saying goodbye to old friends. Lovely choice of meals every night & the evening entertainment was delightful. A great central location, we would highly recommend. Christine

We have just returned from a week in this lovely family owned hotel and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for good service, excellent meals, beautiful grounds and pool area and close to public transport links. The reception staff were welcoming and very helpful with local knowledge, the rooms were kept spotlessly clean and had big balconies, infact the whole hotel was very clean. We stayed on a half board basis and the breakfasts were buffet style with plenty of choice. The evening meals were 3 courses with at least 5 choices per course and were probably the best hotel meals we had ever had. It was also nice to see that they were training many young people in the hospitality trade so service was excellent. The gardens were tranquil havens from the heat with lots of very comfortable seating and there were also lots of tables and chairs outside to enjoy a drink or lunch. Our very favourite place was the rooftop terrace where you could admire the setting sun over the bay and also have a clear view of Mt Versuvius. No-one else used the terrace so we enjoyed sitting there in the peaceful surroundings. A huge thankyou to all the staff who made our stay very enjoyable.

The hotel is in a lovely garden setting and well situated - a short walk from shops, cafes, a beach and the train station. The whole hotel and grounds are well maintained and all areas were kept very clean at all times. It has a lovely sunny pool area with trees providing shade if needed. Our rooms were a good size with comfortable beds, balconies were also well sized with a table and chairs. The food was excellent with plenty of choices and the staff in the restaurant were so friendly and professional it really made our stay! I would definitely recommend this hotel and cannot praise the staff highly enough.

Very nice staff, friendly, polite, professional. Bedroom was small in need of redecorating and the furnishings and fittings updating. The tv was a good one but no surface space to put things on etc. The air con was constantly on and noisy. The balcony looked over to a terrace beside the road and was very, very noisy as it was a busy road for about 12 hours a day. Nice view of the mountains beyond that and sunset though. The hotel was surrounded by main roads which was a shame because there is nothing that can be done to mprove that situation. By the pool was also very noisy from the constant traffic. The food was nice and gluten free options were offered each day but I think they could improve what is offered with more of a buffet set up! I think water should have been offered for free with the evening g meal, if we had paid for half board, but you had to pay extra for anything to drink. Coffee, tea, juice etc was included with breakfast though. On a positive note there was a small fridge in the room, so you can get some drinks and snacks to keep in the room from the nearby supermarket( which is brilliant) Also I can't fault the lovely staff...the rooms were cleaned beautifully by the lovely ladies that made up the rooms. 😀

The hotel is not bad, but I felt uncomfortable there. They put me in a room with a balcony facing a busy road, and there was a gate below the balcony where vehicles drove in, which was accompanied by loud noises and sometimes shouts from workers, even in the early morning. Thus, I could only get a good night's sleep with the balcony door closed. Of course, if the neighbors were quiet.
The decor in the room is old-fashioned, the furniture is antique, which did not upset me at all, and even aroused my interest.
The bed is strangely made - with some kind of oilcloth, and a sheet on top. The linen is good, clean. The bathroom has a bathtub! Some of the plumbing is also outdated, but here it is no longer appropriate. There are no slippers.
I was pleased with the kettle in the room. But there is not even a bottle of water. And also, there is a shortage of sockets, I only found one in the room, in the farthest corner away from the bed and table. It was also inconvenient that the air conditioner turned on automatically, and you had to call the reception to ask to turn it off. There is no control from the room.
Breakfast is good.
There is a beautiful garden around the hotel, there is a swimming pool with unheated water.
