Staff were friendly and professional, especially the barman, who also worked in the restaurant in the evening and the following morning at breakfast.
The food during our evening meal and for breakfast was really good.
The only downside was that during check in we asked for a taxi to be booked to the airport the following morning. On checking out we were informed it was not possible to book a taxi in advance and one had to be booked then. It didn't end up being problem, but it would have been better if we were told this when we checked in.
However, for the given price (350 euros for a double according to the price tag behind the door), I found the well sized room wear and tear a bit marked, with a subpar cleaning service.
Our room, 218, was left with just a bit of hand soap, a dirty shower head (long hairs stitched in between), and no bottle of water, which I normally find in other hotels of the same class.
The hall, bar, and restaurant area are well-fitted and decorated, but the corridors' temperature leaves a bit to be desired.
A kudos to Eleonora at the bar serving our welcome drink and cuddling during our breakfast time.
Speaking of which, good scrambled eggs, but hot bacon and sausages would be welcome (they are just mild). The pastry chef needs to reconsider the usage of flour, which was excessive and pronounced in both the carrot and the chocolate cake.
Our two-night stay at this hotel was a complete nightmare. We booked two rooms, and both had malfunctioning air conditioning. The receptionists were unhelpful and dismissive about our complaints.
We tried to adjust for one night, hoping the issue would be resolved, but it only got worse the second night. When we requested the manager's number, they refused to provide it! It seems the management couldn't care less about guest comfort while they enjoy their peaceful sleep.
We had an infant who was crying the whole night in the heat.. and we had a 62 year old heart patient who was sweating the whole night.
They eventually gave us the contact of someone named Orlando, but he was completely helpless to us. He told us to “adjust” and sleep with the window open, which is unacceptable. We paid a lot for a room, not to suffer in discomfort!
If I could give a lower rating than one star, I absolutely would. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Novotel Firenze!
The management/owner needs to put in money to update this hotel rooms.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone until they have update the rooms. Find other hotel, there are many of them around this hotel.
Mr. Orlando, I understand that policy, however my parents were obviously unaware of this policy as they were told by the hotel they were staying at next door to come (as their restaurant was closed). Your hotel manager immediately spoke+treated them in an angry and rude manner as if they were idiots and less than him. Just because he is a restaurant 'manager' does not make him better than anyone else. You have to remember that even though they were staying next door, people walking into your Novotel branch could always be future clients and speak well of the hotel. Maybe Gabrielle should be given an update on how to respect and treat humans, especially when you work in hospitality. But I suppose the management of this place doesn't care too much about these things as you know being next to an airport will always bring you clients.
My parents have been customers of the Accor group for a long time and it's just ashame that the standard of this 4 star hotel has gone down so much.
The room was big and the bed very comfortable.
Breakfast was good (eggs, bacon, cakes, croissants, pancakes etc.). The TV in the room has netflix.
Overall I would recommend this place for a business trip or to anyone looking to stay outside Florence.
Room can be improved especially the room can be fixed with brighter lighting. As it's still cooling period, AC is turned off and need to open the windows to cool down the room and for air circulation, however it tends have mosquitoes in the room.
The room refrigerator was needed for insulin, but it didn't work, and the staff didn't even listen to us, were rude and never came to our aid.
