Things escalated when I asked for the official complaint book. Despite it being mandatory by law in Italy, I was flatly refused. Handing a guest a blank piece of paper and claiming it will be “sent to management” is not only dishonest, but shows complete disregard for legal obligations and basic transparency.
Hygiene and comfort were just as disappointing. The reception area had a persistent unpleasant smell, the breakfast was the worst I have ever had in any hotel, and one of the towels in my room had a small brown stain that looked unhygienic and raised serious concerns about cleanliness standards.
Between the aggressive attitude, refusal to follow the law, poor hygiene, and shockingly bad breakfast, this hotel fails at even the most basic expectations of hospitality. I would strongly advise future guests to stay elsewhere.
Our room was ready, but that's when the trouble began. The first desk clerk had been helpful and nice but the next one was anything but. One of the two keys he gave us didn't work; though the room was great, it was hot; and I couldn't get any response from the high tech thermostat.
When I decided to call the front desk there was no information card telling me what the number was. I tried 0, but that didn't work.
When I went to the front desk to get the key card fixed, find out what their number was -- turned out it was 9, who could have guessed? -- and report the AC problem, I found out the air conditioner had been shut off for the winter on October 1st, the day we arrived!
When we opened the door to the balcony to let in some cool air the sound of the trains going by every three minutes was almost too much to bear.
After all that, I decided I needed a drink, but the bar was closed and didn't open till 7!
The Hotel Mirage Florence is real, but the mirage is the service there.
Smells like smoke from the minute you walk in.
There was a stain, appeared to be blood, on sheets.
Attendant was talking to someone else while he was checking us in. He gave us directions to a pizzeria that was closed and only open at night.
Door handle almost broken to entrance of our door.
Elevator only fits two people and would be difficult for someone who is a wheel chair.
The restaurant also smelled musty. Dirty utensils. Overall Not a great way to be welcomed into Italy. We thought it was walkable from airport , not possible with so many highways. Taxi is required. Morning concierge was rude and not helpful especially since there was a train strike which was stressful to navigate.
