The Gate Hotel

DO NOT STAY HERE - DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR.
Awful hotel, carpet is stained and disgusting, all rooms have a terrible musty/mouldy smell. There is water damage through the corridors which leaves the carpet smelling.
Bathroom door was falling off and couldn’t be closed.
Mosquitoes ate us alive all night as room was hot and stuffy, aircon didn’t work, and there were no fly screens. They did provide electric mosquito zappers which make your room smell horrible.

And the food was disgusting! We were served a set menu as part of our tour and this is the meal we were served as a main. Portion sizes terrible and tasted awful.

A friend had a gluten free meal preference and for dessert due to being unable to have the set menu option, was served 3 pieces of fruit on a plate with a butter knife. The fruit wasn’t cut up.

Buffet breakfast was also DISGUSTING. Egg had solid bits in it, sausage was cold and gross, bread was stale. Wouldn’t let my worst enemy stay here.

The room it was ok but the water was cold and we couldn't do bath...Also the breakfast was from 7:30 until 9:00 but from 8:15 o'clock they already had nothing to eat for us 8:30 they had pick up also the forks and knives too disappointed

Old hotel, rooms smell of mold, Wi-Fi doesn't work inside the rooms, I asked to change rooms and they said the hotel was full. Luckily I checked out in the next day. Overall, horrible hotel as you can see in the photos.

This hotel was the worst I’ve ever seen in my life, dirty, grim, no maintanance whatsoever, dirty stained carpets , stained walls, chipped wooden doors, dirty bathrooms, the elevators are in a state , our duvet had
a burn mark and THERE IS NO AC IN JULY - NOT BECAUSE IT WAS BROKEN BUT BECAUSE IT WAS TURNED OFF THING THAT CAN ONLY MAKE ME THINK THAT THE OWNER WHICH I CAN ONLY CALL A LEECH IS KEEPING THIS HOTEL IN THIS STATE AND MILKING PEOPLE FOR MONEY. This is clearly not a 4 stars hotel , there’s some fishy advertising going on for sure , I was completely deceived by the pictures . Avoid at all costs , wouldn’t sleep here another night even if I was paid to do so . Sort out ur hotel mate or close it down , I don’t know what kind of health and safety laws y’all have in Italy ( I assume you don’t follow them anyways just like y’all don’t follow any kind of traffic laws) but this is clearly a health and safety hazard . At least clean the throw up stains you have in every single corner of the hallways . Ew ….

If allowed, I would give this hotel zero star. Bad interior, lack of maintenance, small and slow elevators. Air conditioning does not work. I even found an ant crawling on the coffee machine. Stay at your own risk.

This is a horrible hotel!It definitely not a 4 star hotel, maybe 2.It is dirty and smelly!The floors are dark and dirty, it is creepy.The view from our room was the rubbish boxes. The walls are stained and dirty.We have checked out immediately and stayed in a real 4 star hotel in Florence.
So the staff are polite and very friendly. That is not their fault for this nightmare.
The Ministry should take care of this fake 4 stars.

We came to this FOUR STAR hotel. We were happy when we looked at the outside. We came to the reception and we needed four hotel staff to just check-in. We went into the hallway that was nice but we stepped into the elevator. The elevator was small and very smelly. We were in the room 711 and when we came in the room we had a bad impression, when we looked at the wallpaper they had brown color (). We went to see the city Firenze and when we came back there were tons of more guests waiting for the small elevators. We decided we went up the stairs. Every floor was good except floor six (the photos) that looked like something straight from Saw (at night it looked more like an insane asylum). And then we realised that the hallways are being renovated. Every hallway is also very dirty with some stains (wonder what are these stains). Today we went for breakfast and it wasn’t bad at all. The selection was very small but the quality of the food is good. But for me still 1 star.

Extremely outdated. The 5th floor under contraction. Carpets are dirty. Breakfast is very minimal. A morning bartender is rude & dry. This place is disaster! If you have no place to stay or central Florence is expensive then if you pay 40€ for this place then ok; otherwise pay little more and stay elsewhere. A 40 minute walk from a train station named "Pratignone" to the Gate Hotel.
Positive things: check out with Zneb was fast, yet this receptionist is cold and did not show any sign of hospitality. A carrot cake from "a free breakfast" was great!
Stayed for (3) nights during the middle of April, 2024.

Hotel too far away from The city of Florence. There was segregation at breakfast time, no almond milk, a bit grubby. Staff at reception were lovely. Traffic noisy, big truck stay.
