The Gate Hotel

The location of hotel is close to the high way. Good for short stay. However , there were some critical issues. First, the breakfast was very basic and low quality. They don't give you fried egg. The scrambled egg was cooked very bad and it was full of water and when I asked for fried egg, they refuse it. And there was not any kind of vegetables like cucumber or tomato or even lettuce. So, generally speaking, for a 4 star hotel, the breakfast was very bad and like a 2 star hotel. The second issue was, the water of shower become cold and hot every 5 second. So, difficult to get a simple shower easily.

The room was fine.
The outside of the windows had not been cleaned for about 10 years.
The lifts are always a long wait, even though there are two, they are very small ,the hotel is big,they are in constant use.
Groups have priority at breakfast, they have more choice.
The two hot dishes, bacon and eggs were cold.
The staff order the pastries by hand.
Acceptable for transit passengers.

The rooms had A/C, but it works terribly bad and the room is quite hot. Mosquitoes are everywhere. Horrible breakfast, no clean plates, worse than average food, not much variety. Food staff is not serviceable at all, forcing groups to be secluded in a small zone when the whole place is empty. This hotel is supposed to be 4 stars, yet it offers less than a normal 3 star hotel and has the worst staff I have encountered on a hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE - DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR.
Awful hotel, carpet is stained and disgusting, all rooms have a terrible musty/mouldy smell. There is water damage through the corridors which leaves the carpet smelling.
Bathroom door was falling off and couldn’t be closed.
Mosquitoes ate us alive all night as room was hot and stuffy, aircon didn’t work, and there were no fly screens. They did provide electric mosquito zappers which make your room smell horrible.

And the food was disgusting! We were served a set menu as part of our tour and this is the meal we were served as a main. Portion sizes terrible and tasted awful.

A friend had a gluten free meal preference and for dessert due to being unable to have the set menu option, was served 3 pieces of fruit on a plate with a butter knife. The fruit wasn’t cut up.

Buffet breakfast was also DISGUSTING. Egg had solid bits in it, sausage was cold and gross, bread was stale. Wouldn’t let my worst enemy stay here.
