I recently stayed at a private resort in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which was advertised as a high-end glamping destination with a dedicated butler service. Given the resort’s reputation and price point, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of what was promised. Below are the major issues I encountered:
1. Insect Infestation
Despite carefully opening and closing doors and keeping windows shut to prevent mosquitoes and other insects from entering, I still found crickets and grasshoppers crawling around at night. I caught more than five myself, yet they kept appearing. The lack of any visible pest control measures in a so-called luxury resort is unacceptable.
2. Communication Failures
The staff informed me that the hotel phone line was down and asked me to contact them via WhatsApp. However, when I needed assistance in the evening, they did not respond to my messages or calls. This left me feeling stranded and ignored, especially at a property that advertises round-the-clock butler service.
3. Broken Air Conditioner
The room had two air conditioners, but only one was supposed to cool the space without blowing directly onto the bed. Unfortunately, that unit did not work at all. In a tropical climate, air conditioning is essential for a comfortable stay, and having a broken unit with no immediate fix is completely unsatisfactory.
4. Excessive Noise
A wedding party nearby played loud music late into the night, making it impossible to relax or sleep. No warning was given beforehand, and the resort provided no solution or compensation for the disturbance.
5. Poorly Maintained Coffee Machine
The in-room capsule machine had a used capsule stuck inside, which I had to remove by hand before it could be used. The drip tray was also not emptied. These basic housekeeping oversights are especially frustrating given the resort’s advertised level of luxury.

Overall, I feel that the resort’s high price and positive ratings do not reflect the reality of the experience. I strongly urge Agoda to investigate these issues and ensure that future guests receive the quality of service this property claims to offer. My stay was nowhere near the standard expected of a “luxury” resort, and I hope to see significant improvements, should anyone consider booking this property in the future.

The hotel informed us at 6pm the night before they were closed & that we could stay instead at a sister hotel (which looks worse & to a lower standard). I'm trying not to be cynical & view this late notice as a way to get people to accept the worse hotel (at the same price) as finding options at such notice could be difficult...

When I told them I didn't want the other hotel they told me to cancel the booking (it was non refundable through an OTA), I had to ask them to cancel & then chase them to action.

I would avoid as they're still taking reservations for the period that they're closed.

"We were staying at this hotel for 6 nights for a dream holiday as it looks beautiful and I expect probably is. The hotel were very good at arranging tours via email and keeping in contact with us etc. One week before we left for Cambodia a few days ago we were informed that the hotel was being renovated and closed and we would have to move hotels. Our booking luckily was pay at the property so we hadn't paid. We were upset after two months planning our dream trip there but accepted that these things sometimes happen albeit very last minute. "Herewith, we would like to notify you that your reservation at Mane Hariharalaya has been confirmed correctly. However, we feel sorry to inform you regarding your reservation, in which we have to close our hotel for urgent renovation during that period. In response, we are delighted to apprise you that we have our sister property named Mane Family Vacation, and your reservation moved there. Consequently, you will stay at Mane Family Vacation with the room type Two-Bedroom Home instead of Mane Hariharalaya. Moreover, the benefits you will receive are still the same as you would get at Mane Hariharalaya. Also we would like to offer you one-time one hour each of massage during your stay." The benefits at the hotel were to be; "- Welcome drink and cold towel upon arrival - Daily Breakfast - Daily Afternoon Tea - Daily Round Trip to Town (1 time per day) - Daily Four-set Khmer Lunch (Exclusive drinks) - Daily complimentary seasonal fruit platter from Mane Farm - Complimentary check-in and check-out services (subject to availability)" When we got to the sister hotel we were told we would not receive any of these benefits and the restaurant in a muddy field was now closed completely but we could use an app to get food delivered in or move to a different THIRD hotel! It was disgusting to be treated like this. The management at Mane Hariharilaya when we asked to speak to them on the phone were conveniently unavailable. I believe they are overbooked and full and needed us to leave as we were staying too long but to lie and move you to a muddy hotel with no facilities is something I have never experienced in 30 years of travelling the world. I have never wished to leave bad feedback and haven't before but it's a warning about the hotel which I am sure is probably nice and was why we waste to stay here. As travellers reading reviews you have to go through what is positive and negative and make decisions based on fact and gut. This is simply to make you aware that this particular hotel let us down very badly at the last minute and have not addressed our concerns. It's not written out of bitterness and we have not lost anything financially fortunately but just as a warning. We are VERY happy in our new hotel and will enjoy this beautiful country and people."

We booked a room in this hotel through Expedia. One week before our check-in date, the Experience Manager wrote me on WhatsApp to inform that the hotel was apparently closed during our stay there, thus they moved us into another hotel of the Mane group. They did so without asking us if it was ok for us to move into that other location, and without offering other options like for example canceling our booking.

Hopefully, thanks to Expedia, our room was cancelable for free so we did so. And when we checked on both their official website and many hotel booking plateformes, there was no mention of their closing during our stay 🤷‍♀️

Because of that incident I don’t recommend that place that seems no reliable; there are many other beautiful hotels in/close to Siem Reap.

There are flying insects in the room. It is far from the city. The environment is good and the service is good. The room is large, but the lighting is dim and the air conditioning is not easy to adjust. Everything else is good and there is a wild feeling. Free daily afternoon tea: good. Daily special lunch: good.

Wonderful calm and peacefullness with the fully in Wood Blockhouse Made my time of Recovery from West. Greatly mindfull staff and vast selection of Gourmet goods with in a short pleasant stroll along a Lake. Very very Special Location. Thanks to Mrs Mane's stylish comforting style

The whole hotel is like a resort, in the suburbs, quiet and original. If you like shopping and lively, choose it carefully. Compared with the city hotel I stayed in before, the waiter was very shy and only kept the necessary communication. For example, I didn't ask to pour me some water, but asked me to order drinks directly. There were seasonal fruits in the set meal, but I didn't ask and pretended not to know. The room was large, with local style, and the view was right when you opened the window. However, the room assigned to us was probably not occupied for a long time. There were spider webs, the safe had no power, and it was very dusty. We stayed for two nights, and there was no evening cleaning on the second night.

This is a beautiful hotel. We enjoyed the sense of space after a few days staying in the centre of Siem Reap. We were staying in a family villa with pool and it was great. We enjoyed cycling to breakfast and to the pools, and the kids took kayaks out on the lake too. It is located a way out of town, but the hotel provide a daily complimentary tuk tuk service so we used that to travel in for dinner which worked well. Would definitely recommend

Traveling with friends, I was worried that the hotel was in a remote location and prone to mosquitoes. When I arrived, I found that the environment inside and outside the hotel was super good, and the food was also very special. I noted the insect removal when booking, and it was very considerate to meet my needs.

This place was magical! The venue, the decor, the staff. Everything was perfect.
This is by far the best place I’ve traveled to.
We stayed for 3 nights and had massages, a daily chauffeur, a personal assistant. We had our private pool in our private villa.
