Central Hostel in Riga

This was my first time staying at a hostel, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience — likely my last.

*Positives:*
- The place was clean.
- The receptionist who checked me in was friendly and helpful.

*Negatives:*
- The room was extremely small and overcrowded — less than 4x4 meters with 8 people, small windows, a closed door, no proper ventilation, and no air conditioning.
- It became unbearable at night due to the lack of air and loud snoring. I felt like I was suffocating and couldn’t sleep until around 3 AM.
- I went to the lounge to rest on the couch, and a staff member approached me and started speaking very rudely. Although I explained my situation and apologized, he returned again and repeated the same harsh tone.
- His behavior was unprofessional and far from what you'd expect from a host. It’s fine to give a warning, but not to yell.

I packed my bags early in the morning and left for a hotel, ignoring the fact that I still had days left in my reservation.

*Conclusion:* It might suit some travelers, but for me, it was far from comfortable or welcoming.

I had a terrible experience at Central Hostel in Riga. From the moment I arrived, the receptionist was rude and unhelpful, answering my questions with a bad attitude. The hostel feels more like a shelter for drunk workers rather than a place for travelers. Many people seem to live there permanently, drinking and making noise at all hours. It’s not a great atmosphere if you’re looking for a good night’s sleep.

The kitchen is ridiculously small—if two or three people are inside, there’s no space left. Overall, the place is loud, uncomfortable, and poorly managed. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a decent stay in Riga.
