Hotel Villa Mahal - Adults Only in Kalkan

We’ve just returned from 10 lovely days at Hotel Villa Mahal in Kalkan. After visiting Kalkan 6 years ago and spending a day at Mahal beach club, myself, my mum & sister couldn’t wait to stay at Mahal this time around. Our room was near the top of the hotel and had beautiful views over Kalkan bay - definitely the best balcony view we’ve ever had. That did mean lots of steps up and down to the restaurant/beachfront, but if you’re generally active this is very doable and shouldn’t put you off. The breakfast/lunch hotel staff absolutely made our stay and deserve a huge shout out, particularly Burhan and Hasan who were so friendly and attentive every single time we saw them, memorizing our orders and helping us with whatever we needed. Big thanks to you both - you’re amazing. Someone else who deserves a shout out is the member of staff (so sorry, I didn’t get his name, but he likened himself to Rambo!) that helped us with our luggage. We had 3 heavy cases and he carried them down to our room on arrival and up when we left with ease! We were so grateful for the help and he was absolutely lovely, always saying hello throughout our stay when we saw him. It was great to have a private area for hotel guest sunbeds at the beach club, as it meant there were always beds available. We also loved taking the free water taxi over to Kalkan in the evenings. There are a few negatives that I feel I should mention: 1. The room was advertised as being able to sleep 3 adults. In practicality this meant one double bed and one very small fold out camp bed. I am 5”3 and with my head at the top of the camp bed my feet were off the end. I wouldn’t say this is suitable for anyone taller than me, and it wasn’t the most comfortable nights sleep. 2. The maid service didn’t attend our room the day before we left. This meant that there was no water provided (as there was every other day), and no toilet roll. It also meant that the bathroom bin (which you put used toilet roll in, as the plumbing can’t handle toilet roll down the loo) wasn’t emptied, which felt a bit unsanitary. 3. Perhaps the biggest let down was the treatment we received from Ōznur, which left us feeling very uncomfortable. I had prebooked dinner at Mahal restaurant for the Friday evening. A few days before, I asked at breakfast to cancel this, and rebook for Saturday instead. I was told this was fine. At Saturday breakfast, we were approached by an evening member of staff who asked why we didn’t come to dinner on Friday night. I explained that we’d cancelled and apologized that this wasn’t communicated to them, they said everything was fine and they just wanted to check what had happened. On Saturday afternoon we were sent a text message to ask if we were attending dinner that evening, as we hadn’t gone on Friday. We confirmed again that we would be attending, and that we had cancelled the Friday evening a few days previously. When we sat down for dinner, Ōznur came over to our table and very loud

This hotel will stay with me and my family a long time. The setting really is out of this world- with a view of Kalkan bay and various Jetty’s that you can dive from into crystal clear water. I travelled with a teenager and was worried that it was so boutique that there would be little for him to do- but there was so much, paddle boarding, canoeing and jet ski-ing and a mattress in the sea that could be swum to. There is a beautiful infinity pool with jacuzzi section at the end with incredible views. One of the highlights was the hotel boat on the 9th August (additional cost) which took us to gorgeous bays with the most friendly, kindest two man crew. The breakfast choice was wide but we absolutely loved their Turkish eggs and frittata. Easy water boat to the main town which has little charming shops and eateries. Left feeling rejuvenated- all you could wish for from a hotel- we will be back- thanks Villa Mahal!

I always spend a day here with my friends every year Sometimes twice a year. I have a Villa in Kalkan but love to go down to the sea. This year I feel the staff have absolutely excelled. They are polite, friendly and very helpful. Our leisurely lunch was simple, good fresh food. Beach bar food. We did not dine with the in the evening so I cannot comment on the menu. In my experience this is the best beach clu in Kalkan. It is gentle, serene and sophisticated. Thank you for giving us a beautiful day. Jilly

Super place, wonderful staff and out of this world location. We had a medical emergency on our first day, which unfortunately led to us having to return home on the second day! Having said this we found the team very very helpful with arranging a quick trip home. The lady from Edinburgh on reception was exceptional she helped book our luggage in with the airline and extended our apologies for cutting short our stay. We will return as soon as Karen feels well as it was wonderful.

My husband and I were here on our honeymoon. The setting couldn’t be more romantic, and our dinner server, Mehmet, was amazing. He made sure we felt exceptionally cared for during our time here. Additionally, the location was amazing- we swam off a beautiful swim dock, ate excellent food, relaxed, and slept so well every night . We will be back.

Absolutely amazing food and service! Very hot though so definitely bring your own fan as there’s is no AC (it’s outside) or fans

The hotel is built in old olive terraces running down the hill to the coast. All rooms have great views of the bay, and have pleasant places to sit out. Our room, 212, had three sitting out places so you could juggle with the sun. Hotel in good condtion and friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant restaurant a few feet above the water's edge. Dinner is taken on candlelit jetties at the very edge of the sea. Decent range of food. Some dishes excellent, and nearly all at least good. Different menu for lunch, so that adds variety. The water ferry into town is well organised and frequent. Plenty of pllces to swim from the hotel (though no sandy beach - it is straight in to deep water from the hotel jetties). Sandy beaches are 10-20 minutes drive away. There is a lot of walking up and down the pretty terraces involved in staying here - though the hotel does provide a golf cart taxi for those who want a bit of help!

Amazing setting and food. Well worth booking a sunset dinner and ask fir a sea edge table. Its expensive but def worth it! We were 2 adults and 3 kids. The children enjoyed it too and the staff were happy to let our youngest order a burger from the bar menu.
