Reviews
We travelled 1000miles , thought to stood there for a night, came around 1am in the night, couldn't make to gas station coz I was dizzy. As soon as I entered my room I found no water bottles.
Atleast offer water it's just a 50c/bottle.
Note: If I tell your boss water or Aircondition , what he prefers..
It's just a water bottle but each drop counts..
The place is huge so kind of a maze. Our room smelled a bit like the pool because we were right below it. We couldn't seem to get the air to switch from AC to heat when Chicago temps dropped from 70's to 40's so we just turned the whole thing off and shivered. The room/hallways/stairwells are fine if a little dated. The shower water got hot. The pillows were soft.
The text option for staff contact was great because there was nearly always a wait on hold to call the front desk. There is a bank of 15 elevators and it honestly keeps up well with the massive number of inhabitants. Reasonably good access to most L train lines. The location is good for McCormick or Soldier Field, but otherwise it's too close to traffic-heavy Michigan Ave to be restful. Maybe heavier sleepers can enjoy it but for $350/night, I need more hours of warm, quiet sleep.
good location
I had to change rooms twice because the heater wasn’t working. Even after moving rooms, the heat still wasn't properly fixed, and my kids and I were cold the entire time. To make matters worse, instead of a permanent solution, the hotel brought in a small portable heater. For a hotel that markets itself as a five-star property, basic amenities like a working heating system should be standard, not something patched with a mini heater.
For the price we paid, I expected a much higher level of comfort and maintenance. While the service and appearance were great, the lack of working heat left a major negative impression. I would caution future guests to check room conditions carefully before settling in.
Mercy was so kind and friendly, and the joy in her voice was contagious. We arrived early just to drop off our luggage, but she offered us early check-in and even called us later to let us know our room was ready—with a complimentary upgrade!
This review isn’t just about the upgrade or welcome—it’s about the people. I’d seen negative reviews online and wasn’t sure what to expect, but this turned out to be the best Hilton experience we’ve had.
Yes, it’s an older hotel, but I’d call it a well-maintained gem. The room and bathroom were clean, the view was breathtaking, and everyone we interacted with was friendly. We had breakfast at the hotel itself @ Kitty O'Sheas restaurant and loved exploring the shops and entertainment areas. Staff even checked in with us every time we stepped out of the elevator!
We truly felt cared for. If you’re unsure because of negative reviews—please give this place a chance.
And Mercy—we love you more than Hilton! Hilton, please recognize and celebrate amazing employees like her.
