We enjoyed our stay. The reception staff were very nice and helpful. Fire alarm went off one night at 8.30pm. We had to walk down fire escape 15 flights. False alarm due to apartments next door, part of the same hotel. There was no toilet brush, an important issue for any good hotel I would think. At front entrance, Lonsdale St, there were only steps, no ramp. Not suitable for seniors trying to get bags up, or people with disabilities, or us, seniors in our seventies, both with bad knees. Only one lift working. The other in repair.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne. The location is perfect – right in the heart of the city and just a short walk to the free tram zone, which made it very convenient to explore Melbourne. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the breakfast was delicious with a good variety of choices. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Melbourne!

Very happy staying at the Grand Chancellor. Close to just about anywhere we needed to go around town.
Happy to be upgraded to a King room when we arrived at the hotel.
Had a drink in the bar for happy hour.
We didn't eat there as we had a voucher to use at a nearby restaurant.
