Stamford Plaza Melbourne

Unless you want to be belittled by staff, stay in filthy rooms with animal infested amenities, and have your money taken from you, I would not waste my money at Stamford Plaza.

They take a bond from you, which was unknown to me before I arrived ($100 a night) and then refuse to give it back. We arrived and our bathtub was dirty, rose petals on the bed stained everything and then after room service came it was in the exact same state. We stayed for two nights and all room service did was make the bed, which I could’ve done, even tho it was plain to see that it was in no state to sleep in.

They tried to make us pay for breakfast we didn’t go to, and when we used the gym/pool facilities there were bats inside. When I tried to get my bond back, the staff were rude and condescending. They’re excuse for taking my money is it’s a “5-star Hotel” and I should’ve expected it. Bats and filthy rooms don’t seem very 5 star to me. They told me they’d call me back after my stay, they never did. I called multiple times and left emails to which they never responded.

The only good reviews they have are the location, but the location is not all that, and not worth the horrid service and stay.

Don’t waste your money here.

My wife and I were upgraded to the King Suite during our stay. However, the room looked like it hadn't been touched since 1990. Damaged curtains and a very small, poky bathroom. The room smelt like moth balls and didn't seem all that clean. Would have been very happy with the newly upgraded queen suite (the room that was originally booked). For a 5 star hotel, the breakfast/dining space also lacked variety and atmosphere

I recently booked the Deluxe King Suite at this hotel and I have to say, it was the worst hotel experience of my life. The room was beyond filthy - there were hand prints and stains all over the bed board, stained sheets, and dusty furniture. The mirrors were stained and not wiped, and the bathroom floors were covered in stains. Despite appearing tidy at first, everything was actually disgustingly dirty. The staff offered to switch rooms, but that only made me lose trust in the cleanliness of the entire hotel. To make matters worse, the room was significantly smaller than the photos that were deceitfully advertised. The windows were also a disappointment, offering no view of the outside world and only showcasing the internal elevator.

When I asked for a refund, the staff dragged the process on for three hours because the manager was nowhere to be found and refused to take responsibility for the health violation and inconvenience caused by the dirty room. Now, I've had to escalate the issue to the reservations team because they're "too busy" to even process a simple refund. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and would advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere. The unprofessionalism, lack of cleanliness, and sheer inconvenience of this experience have left a permanent negative impression on me. The issue is still unresolved. Five star hotel? Not even close.
