Worst hotel I’ve stayed at—in any of the ten countries I’ve been to.
Basic things missing. Cold staff. Keycard failed three times in three days. Breakfast so stingy it wouldn’t feed a child. I’m 98 pounds, and still left hungry.
Can you imagine? When I came back from a Snow world outside and I was still carrying a pile of luggage and found that my door could not be opened again. The room card has been degaussed. And it happened THREE TIMES!!!Who can feel my despair and desperate!?
You didn’t just embarrass your hotel. You disgraced Edmonton, Alberta, Canada,North America, Latin America—and frankly, the entire Western world!!!
In fact, if this place keeps operating like this, James Madison might’ve welcomed you into the Department of War of the U.S—because clearly, you’re capable of bringing down Canada without firing a single shot.
And you know what? Even the Indigenous nations you oppressed might’ve built a more dignified and functional civilization than what I saw here.
There is a photo to prove that this is the portion of your breakfast. Do you think there are so few children's meals?Don't you think it's ridiculous that I need to pay you extra if I want to eat more?

When I walked into the lobby just after 3:00pm I was surprised to see no line up at the front desk for that time of day. The lobby area was nicely decorated with Christmas trees and had nice décor. The service from staff was fine and they accommodated my preference for a room location.
When I walked inside my room I noticed the carpet right away. Most hotels have renovated to wooden floors except this Holiday Inn. Old carpets that absorb food and beverage spills are unsanitary. The room was quite small for a standard two queen size beds, other Holiday Inn's have more space. The furniture is outdated and old. I noticed chipped chairs and a tear in one of the curtains. The curtains need to be replaced, or at least professionally cleaned.
The big TV was nice and having a shower facility without a tub was nice. The heating and air conditioning was excellent. I had called for maintenance to come and unclog the bathroom sink drain from slow drainage and sure enough it had hair build-up.
This hotel is one of the oldest in south Edmonton for Calgary Trail/Gateway Blvd area. All the hotels along this strip are aging and will require renovations and upgrades. I probably won't choose this Holiday Inn again because I don't like carpet and small rooms.

This hotel is right by the train track and there are trains go by 24/7. We stayed at 5th floor (top floor) and the sound is still very loud.
The wall is thin that I can hear baby crying next door. The fire alarm went on at 9:30pm.(Feb.3rd)The sound was very very sharp and loud in the room and lasted about half hour. There was no explanation about what happened whatsoever.
It was a restless stay. I will definitely not return.

The staff friendly and and accessible place

If your coming from Calgary not a bad place to stay. It’s on the south side of Edmonton so very easy to get to. Came for a concert that was downtown and there is a bus stop about 10 minute walk that takes you almost to Rogers Place which is another 5-10 min walk and save you money not having to park downtown.
The area of the hotel is fairly industrial, but at night it was quite and there is a decent amount of places to eat. Not fine dining by any means but they have the regular fast food and chain sit down restaurants near by.
The staff were very friendly and greeted us every time we came in and we’re more than happy to make change for me as the Edmonton transit does not take debit or credit, only cash and their own transit card.
The breakfast was also good, they give you a voucher for the Ricky’s Grill that you can order off a separate menu that is free(included with your stay).
I think if I ever come back to Edmonton for an event this would maybe be a place I would be fine staying in. The price was good, location was fine, room was more than adequate. Good place overall.
