Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg

We had many problems during our stay.
When we arrived and got our room, it was lacking advertised features, it was very small and did not have a bath. Wet asked for a room change, this was very difficult. Apparently there were no other rooms, even though we booked the best category. Only after insisting we got a room with a bath. This room was a lot bigger, had a bath but also a technical room next to it, with constant machine and pipe noise. The view was of the parking garage.
We asked for our car to be parked in the garage, they said yes and charged for this. This was a lie, the car was parked outside and after three days covered in bird dirt and tree sap.
Service in the restaurant is slow. There is a problem with spoons. Order soup - no spoon. Ask for one - wait 10 minutes.
Order drinks - nothing. Ask again - still nothing.
Breakfast was overfull, had to wait for a table about 15 minutes. Also no spoons at breakfast.
The spa was very limited. There is an outdoor space, but all doors are closed. The pool is very cold.

The Hotel is not as contrary to the own classification - currently, the German 5-star Standard.

- just pushed together 90cm beds instead of Queen or king size beds
- not a "modern, the room size reasonable TV" but a 25 year old tube TV (in 2016)
- a personalized welcome in the room (Present/flowers)
- the "overall impression of the hotel is not enough" the "highest standards" but is generally very run down (musty smell, extremely blotchy carpet in all areas of the hotel, some hotel areas are dirty
- there is definitely a "recognizable renovation/Investment backlog (very euphemistically expressed)
- there is no "systematic dealing with guest complaints"

Because of the important issues of cleanliness (hairs in the bathroom upon arrival, dirty window sill), Queen/king size mattress and a television, I was 3x at the front Desk.
The hair on the bathroom floor were removed, the window sill remained dirty, with regard to mattresses could be no Alternative offered (instead, a discussion was started, whether that was for 5 stars), and contemporary television, it would be only in higher-class rooms (!).
Overall a very poor performance for a 5 and even a 4-star Hotel.

The fitness room has 4 cardio machines and a cable with inadequate facilities.
The cleanliness in the swimming pool and the fitness room is good (there are only 2 guests were there), in the sauna area is acceptable.
At Breakfast, we expect that the high Steigenberger-Standard; if not, I'll adjust the Review again.

We were really looking forward to the two days and are now disappointed all along the line. The Hotel was opened in 1990 and since then not renovated. Up to a renovation (probably in 2017) can be discouraged from visiting.
