El Mesala Hotel

Review:

I was disappointed with my stay. The WiFi was unreliable, and the included breakfast was quite poor, especially since water wasn’t provided—I had to purchase it separately, which felt unreasonable.While the location seemed good at first, it turned out to be very noisy. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Everything is terrible.
People will tell you about a tour, but it's a big lie and you'll give more than double the amount. Hotel staff are quick to lie, so it's best to always record the talk.
There are no amenities, the shower is cold and the water overflows.
The room smelled of bananas.
It was a great trip and I can't recommend staying here more than anything else.

My experience with the hotel was something that started on a high, but ended very very low. The hotel sent us a nice chatty cab driver who was quite jovial. We landed late at night, around 0230 am. Things started going downhill from then on. During booking, we had decided to go for two nile view rooms, but they gave us only one nile view room during check-in. At 0230 am in the morning, it was pointless to argue, so we decided to take it. The rooms were very very basic at best. Sort of stuck in the 90s so to speak. Bathroom was horrible with missing fixtures. The only plus point was the Nile view, with a good view of thr swimming pool, which I wanted to jump in but changed my mind thereafter, due to reasons I will mention later. During the morning, we had a really polite driver who took us to the valley of the Kings. He did try to sell us with a trip to the Alabaster shops which we politely declined, and he did not push us further. Very professional driver, who infact was the only plus point of the stay. After our visit, when we returned to the hotel, there was a huge group who were making quite a ruckus by the swimming pool. This ruckus went on for almost 4 hours after which there was an unholy mess and stench which surrounded the pool. I don't want to specify what nationality they were, because I don't like to stereotype. After smelling the stench and seeing the mess ( food items) left behind, I lost all interest in swimming in the pool. The hotel staff had to take great pains to clean this. This large group went to Luxor City and came back to the hotel at 02 am in the morning. I was woken up by their frequent banging of doors. The kids in their group were having fun by ringing the reception from their room, and laughing ( A child's upbringing is dependent on the parents. I blame them ).Based on our experience so far, we then decided to cut short our stay by a day. Thankfully they returned half a days rent. We were then planning to proceed to go to aswan after visiting the Karnak temple. The chatty cab driver who picked us up at the airport took us around town. On hearing that we had found alternative means of transport to Aswan, his demeanour changed all of a sudden, and he somehow wanted to get rid of us as soon as possible. This stay in Luxor and this cab driver have been the ONLY LOW point of our Egypt trip so far. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
