Chatur Playa Real Resort in Adeje

Booked a trip with 12 friends to celebrate a 60th B’day. The Hotel Chatur is on AI basis. The staff at reception were friendly and explained mealtimes and bar times etc. I will start by stating that this was my first visit to Tenerife, although I have visited other Canary Islands. The room was a bit tired looking although clean, bathroom was overdue a revamp but good water pressure and hot water. A hairdryer worked. And a safe in the room but €12! The plug sockets didn’t have enough space to actually plug anything in due to the light switch being so close so couldn’t be used. There were other sockets in the room. Although only 2 single women sharing a twin room there was a large sofa bed in a rather sad looking pvc covering, which wasn’t used. Beds weren’t too bad but just a sheet on top. We had to request an additional covering and a duvet was supplied. Plenty of hangers but not much drawer space. The air-con was virtually non existent which made the room quite warm & stuffy but the large balcony was a bonus with hanging rail for swimsuits etc. We had a fridge which was cold however and a kettle, 2 cups with saucers which, in the 5 nights stayed, were not changed for clean ones, once! As it was All Inclusive drinks and a snack bar was available but only one bar around the pool was open and got very busy. Staff didn’t seem to like their job. Cocktails were via a premixed machine and most fairly sweet, beers were great. Prosecco wasn’t available until after 6pm…. I never used the snack bar but from what I saw, it was mostly burgers and dry buns. The pool was clean and the filters worked keeping it nice and clear, to be honest, the pool was the best part of the hotel, as the loungers, although plenty of them, they were quite sad and old, many had rivets or suchlike missing keeping them from sagging. Right…. the buffet, was quite awful and very much canteen grade, with fish cooked on the griddle looking quite good but looked like it had been just thrown into a small dish in pieces. Other than some lasagna and a couple of hot trays of veggie meals, there were dry burgers which were about 5mm thick, but apparently what the kitchen thought were good enough to serve. The usual chips, dry pizza and other fast food. The one saving grace was a couple of trays of mixed salads, a few pots of varying dips, mayo etc but the same in the evening to what was available at lunchtime. A few of my party did mention that the omelettes at breakfast were good. They did have the small croissants and pastries, plenty of sachets of butter honey jam etc. Various tea bags and coffee via a machine were hit and miss. Desserts looked a bit soapy and generic accompanied by a bowl of tinned fruit a few bananas and the odd tray of halved orange and grapefruit, but plenty of melon. Not what I would call acceptable fare.. I’m not a fussy eater and will always find something to eat but this was not quality by any means. I’m told by a few of my party, that it was ok for the

Definitely not a 4star, onsite Italian tasted more like a curry, food on the all inclusive was full of salt, sunbeds were all broke or damaged will not recommend or stay here again.
