Hotel Monegal

When I made the reservation, I wanted a single room because I was alone, but the single rooms were sold out, so I booked a double room. However, after the reservation was confirmed, I received a confirmation email for a single room reservation instead of a double room. Since there was a bathtub, the room rate for the double room was higher than that of the single room, but I decided to make the reservation.
I think it was a bad idea not to check when I made the reservation, thinking that there might have been a cancellation for the single room. I thought that even the single room would have a bathtub.
The actual hotel was a single room with only a shower and no bathtub. I thought that since it was a double room, there would be a bathtub and no single room... but I just thought that. However, since there were no single rooms available, I booked a double room and paid the double price, so I would like the difference between the single room and the single room to be refunded. If there was at least a bathtub, I would not want the difference to be refunded.
When I entered the room, there was a large cockroach in the shower room. I happened to greet the cleaning lady on the floor, and since I had just entered the room, I hoped that the lady was still on the floor, and when I looked for her, she was cleaning another room. I was surprised and asked, "Really?", but she wasn't lying... She immediately got rid of it and disinfected it. Normally, there would have been no bathtub and there would have been a large cockroach in there, so I would have asked to change rooms, but I had to leave my luggage and go out (I had a reservation for a specific date and time), so I stayed for four nights.
I noticed after I got back home that the reservation confirmation said that even the single rooms had a bathtub. What? Which one? I don't know if that's correct.
The staff were all nice, and I didn't have time, so I didn't complain. In the future, I intend to check with the hotel myself in advance. This incident has made me a little distrustful of the operation and management of this site.

Great location and nice people.

The hotel is perfectly located, all the shops, Rambla, metro, Boqueria Market are all nearby. The hotel itself is old, but they cleaned it every day and very well. I didn't expect anything incredible from it, it was already clear what and how. They gave me a kettle when I asked. We chose it because of the location. But there was a nuance. On the last night before the flight, I wanted to get some sleep, but it didn't work out. A crowd of thousands of football fans gathered right under our window and screamed all night, celebrating their championship. It was something, I thought the house would be torn down. I decided that I would not stay on Rambla anymore)))

The room is very clean and the hotel is near the square, which makes travel very convenient. It takes 5 minutes to walk to Barcelona Cathedral and 10 minutes to check in at Casa Mila.

Perfect location and perfect staff

When you enter your room, you have to turn on the breaker yourself. This was a bit confusing as it was my first time.
The elevator can fit up to two people, but it takes a while.
The receptionist was very friendly.
There is almost no soundproofing, so if this bothers you, please bring earplugs.
Hairdryers are available to borrow at the reception.

The room is clean and tidy; spacious and bright; very comfortable! It is a good experience! The service attitude is also good! The sanitation is very clean! Basically meets the needs of life!

Solo female traveler. I got in late and was apprehensive because of people outside building, but completely harmless.

It is worth paying extra to have balcony, view and space and own bathroom. My room is clean and has more than enough space for two people. Considering that room faces street, not noisy. Catalans seem to be not fans of honking.

I checked in around 11:30 PM, and staff emailed to assure me that they have 24 hour checkin.

Staff is helpful. Basic hotel but very safe at the end part of La Rambla.

Word of caution: If older traveler or heavier side, please choose different hotel. Though bathroom is clean, it is small and tub is high posing fall risk.
