Hotel Canada Palace

I cannot highlight enough how awful my experience was at this hotel. I would absolutely disagree that this is a 4 star hotel as Google suggests. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I was put here after a cancelled flight (as with many of the others staying) despite the fact it is 45 mins from Barcelona airport. It appeared that the hotel guests were either other people abandoned from cancelled flights or young children/teens on Spanish school trips. The rooms were very simple and at first appeared clean but I then found lots of dust in the bedroom & hairs in the shower before I had even used it, clearly not very well cleaned. They don't have many of the usual necessities in hotels though such as kettles, irons/ironing boards. The swimming pool water looked really dirty & unclear, especially in comparison with the lovely pool in the building next door that you can see from your balcony. The food wasn’t particularly interesting, breakfast was fine but lunch/dinner hardly offered any healthy food options, with most things coated in oil and stewed. If you wanted another bottle of water, as many people have said here, they wouldn’t let you take it out of the canteen which felt very strange & wasteful. There are very loud evening events put on all in Spanish which go on until at least 11.30, so don't expect to have a quiet early night! The worst part, however, of the hotel I have to say were the staff. The manager, who I believe was called ‘Maria’, regularly shouted in people’s faces. I saw her aggressively speak to different guests for just asking simple questions such as ‘when does the shuttle arrive’. The staff would not try and help and would reply with ‘it’s not our responsibility’ and when asked to support with booking taxis to return to the airport, they would not help. Guests then I believe almost missed their flights due to the delayed shuttle & inability to get a taxi.
I would not recommend staying at this hotel to my worst enemy, there are many other nice places to stay in Calafell or Barcelona which should be your priority instead of Canada Palace (it is certainly not a palace).

upon arrival to my room air conditioning is broke,lights were not working,could hear through the walls.One of my friends sink fell off now having to move rooms.went down for some dinner and all our partys reservated seats where taken.food is lukewarm very dated hotel.staff where very aggressive and angry but kind and calm towards spanish guests.

Had to spend the night here due to American Airlines complete failure. Everyone here is someone stranded due to this or a screaming, poorly behaving, vulgarity yelling teen or a very loud preteen. Front desk says they have chaperones but that they do nothing. Front desk won’t either. Steer clear.

Never have I ever been in a place so awful and treated so badly. How this hotel has managed to obtain a 3rd and 4th star baffles me. Having had out flight cancelled we were assigned Hotel Canada Palace, 42 miles from where we were staying on our holiday. We made our way to the hotel. We were given wristbands to show we could eat breakfast lunch and dinner not that any of it was edible. We were not told any mealtimes and when asked they just shrugged their shoulders.
At first, we were pleasantly surprised by our room, until we took a closer look and noticed hairs in the shower and the corners of the bathroom and bedroom all gritty and dirty. Then while having a shower the extractor fan dumped all the dust collected on the toilet making that unusable.
When we made it down to the first dinner, we went to see what the food was like, it was awful, I have never seen such poor choices in a hotel and no greens or vegetables that weren’t lathered in oil in sight. No healthy options at all and that soon became reality for each meal that was put on by the hotel. We were given one bottle of water per day between two people and when we asked for another in the dining room they said you can have one more but you need to drink it all before you leave the room, this shocked me as I suddenly felt as if we were being punished and not like we were two young women that sadly had their flights cancelled and were feeling vulnerable as it was!
The pool was unusable, it was murky and not hygienic in any way shape or form.
The worst part of this whole experience was the staff. I cannot even begin to explain how rude and unsympathetic they are. They did not have a care in the world for the people staying in the hotel. I heard one lady apparently named ‘Maria’ scream at multiple people because all they wanted to know was what time the shuttle was to the airport the next day (the shuttle that never turned up).
The shuttle that was supposed to take us to the airport never turned up and multiple people asked the staff for help for which they responded with it wasn't their issue and to be patient, people then missed their flights.
Please please if you are reading this and thinking about staying at Canada Palace have a second thought, it will not be a holiday for you more like a prison experience and I personally wouldn’t wish the stay I just had that on anyone!

Horrible staff, very rude, we got put in this hotel after BA cancelled our flights and they have been nothing but taking advantage of people in a vulnerable situation. Basic things like a bottle an extra bottle of water with our food was extra, we tried going to the gym, they charged us for using it, then they couldn't find the key, and haven't been reimbursed. We asked for a late check out since our new flight was not until the evening and they said we needed to pay 50 euros. Food included was very subpar, a bottle of water was extra for breakfast! They told us we needed to either pay for a bottle of water or drink tap water.

The hotel is in a nice area, close to the beach but the amenities are extremely outdated. Finally the state of the pool is grim. From the rooms you can compare it with the pool from the place next to it and it is utterly disgusting. If you can avoid this place do it.

The pros were hot water with a wonderful shower head and good air conditioning. The cons were no phone in the room, well-worn towels, a dispenser in the shower which did not want to dispense soap, noise from the traffic as well as other “guests”, and inexpensive decor. The hotel was overrun with high school/college-aged people who had no supervision to keep them from running up and down the hallway during the night. Remember no phone in the room so those who wanted to sleep could complain.

The hotel staff were extremely rude and disrespectful to customers. The cleanliness of the room was very poor. Upon check-in, the bathroom floor had a lot of hair, the toilet was dirty, and the room's surfaces were dusty. There was even chewing gum stuck under the table beneath the TV.
