I had a lovely stay at Santa Monica Playa in Salou. The rooms were very clean, with excellent air conditioning, and the location is perfect—close to the beach and right in the heart of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
There were a few downsides: the animation was minimal and only offered on weekends, possibly due to the early season. The karaoke night was fun, but the live band on Saturday was underwhelming. I had expected more entertainment overall.
The biggest letdown was the food. Breakfast was very basic, and dinner was disappointing: limited and dry meat options, undercooked fries, warm desserts, and a very small selection.
Advice:
I definitely recommend this hotel for its comfort, cleanliness, and location—but I suggest booking without meals. The food doesn’t live up to the rest of the experience. Despite that, I look back on a great holiday and would gladly return!
The only downside: if you're looking to rest and get some sleep, forget it. There's no sound insulation in the room, and on Saturday there was karaoke at the hotel—held outdoors by the pool area—making it impossible to sleep.
Aside from that, everything else was impeccable. The breakfast buffet had plenty of options. The hotel is just one block from the beach and the town center. Highly recommended!
especially the Reception staff were very friendly and helpful... I enjoyed my 4th night stay, the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable 5 minutes walk to the beach, beautiful surrounding atmosphere. A constant barrage of noise until well past midnight every day !!!
The walls are paper-thin. Not only could I hear every hallway noise, but also clearly hear human bathroom sounds from neighboring rooms—which was disgusting and beyond uncomfortable.
The lifts are painfully slow and ancient, and the entire place feels neglected. This is not a hotel for anyone looking for rest, privacy, or even basic comfort. Avoid this place unless you have no other option—and even then, think twice
One positive was the view from the fifth floor that over looked Port Aventura.
