tent Arenal Hotel

Nice place, room adequate with nice big shower and clean. Breakfast/brunch good enough choice although only warm. Great location to beach, shops, restaurants. Surrounding area very busy/noisy and hotel is on a very steep hill! Found it ok for the price. Some of the reviews on here not sure what all the fuss is about!

Clean, newly refurbished and close to beach/main *****. Rooms are basic but clean, nicely decorated and have all you need - smart TV, free WiFi, fridge and hairdryer. Yes beds are a little hard but hard to accommodate personal preferences. Check in was ok but a tad confusing. Self check in, we had no issues with, however it said our room keys would come via email which they didn’t l, assumed it was as we were early but nothing came through so had to get from the desk/bar after a few hours of lugging our belongings around. No issues after that but needed to be communicated better. Staff were friendly if not a little overworked as the bar was also the reception desk so staff had to juggle numerous tasks. Brunch was fine, good availability and served its purpose but the hot food was freezing cold. There were microwaves available but who wants microwaved fried eggs! Overall a good value stay. Could be improved with some music round the pool, clearer communication around check in and hotter food.

My friend and i booked this trip on a whim and wanted to do it as cheap as possible! We saw that the Tent , Arenal did an unlimited brunch till 1.30pm looked at the most recent review on here (at the time) which was excellent so booked it! After that though all the reviews were bad, very bad, in fact one quiet scary one regarding a security guard. However we went and OMG it was lovely!! Whole hotel has been refurbished, everything in our room appeared to be brand new. It was spotlessly clean. Lovely fluffy white towels in bathroom and not a tiny one that you cant wrap round you these were bath sheets. Check in: We arrived at 3am so had to check in with the online system, i have seen people complaining that it isn't in english, this is correct but you just press the "translate to english" tab and as if by magic, its English! I do recommend downloading the "upkey" app as this will have your key on (although you can get a key card from reception if required) you then get a confirmation email (again translate to english) and this gives you a code to enter on the "upkey"app. Room: despite what other reviews state, air con works amazingly and keeps constant temperature (no need to have key in slot to make it work) there is a safe in the room (extra charge) but we didnt use this. Also there is a fridge (not mentioned on hotel website) no kettle though. Breakfast/Brunch: Typical continental breakfast which stays the same till 1.30pm Good selection of everything and topped up regularly. Only downside was , the hot food warmer was too high up so not really keeping food hot. Easy fix though as there is a microwave, so just get all your hot food and then zap it! All the staff were really friendly and helpful especially all the reception staff big thanks to Julian, Luis (aka DJ Chocolate) Carlos and Juan they all always had smiles on their faces. Plenty of sunbeds available beach is a 5 min walk down the hill and plenty of shops near by to get water etc. Regarding the security guard comment. All doors work on wifi opening, one night we didn't close ours properly (we had popped back for something) within a few minutes there was a knock at the door and the security guard was stood there letting us no our door wasn't shut, i think if we hadn't answered he would have pushed door open to check all was ok. Obviously i wasn't there for the other incident reported on here but we met the security guard and he was a nice guy and we didn't experience anything "frightening". Would recommend this hotel with no hesitation and if i go back to Arenal i will be staying here again.

For the price point the hotel was great. Very clean, brunch was good with nice range of options. Hotel room was very clean and ok size. Staff were unhelpful and quite miserable. Did not greet you on check in, pointed to self check in which was all in spanish and no option to change. did not recognise surname and booking reference so had to go back to reception. Still no hello, or smile. During day, staff were also miserable. Rated good as I would stay again, for the price point it was great - just a shame about the staff.

Wow! Pleasantly surprised! I wasn’t expecting much especially considering how much we paid. On arrival the full hotel has been renovated! We had a room on the 9th floor sea view. Comfy beds, plenty of storage, clean, hair dryer that actually works. Breakfast isn’t breakfast it’s brunch and you can visit as many times as you like between 8-1.30. Quiet hotel, no disturbances during the night. Spotlessly clean pool, and all the sun beds are new. Would recommend!
