Radisson Blu Aleksanteri Hotel, Helsinki in Helsinki

I have stayed here each year for a number of years - i know the hotel well. Positives: Great location, near restaurants, opposite a supermarket. Nice staff Negatives. I am a VIP member and upon checking in told no upgrades available due to hotel being busy. The hotel was absolutely not full, as you can tell by the lack of guests at breakfast and in the bar in the evening. No welcome gift/drink in the room as per the member benefits of VIP Toilet roll in the bathroom was almost finished when arriving Room was in the 'old part' and was a decent size but very dated furniture. In fact the hotel is starting to look tired and is really due an overhaul They have stopped serving lunch/dinner now. The restaurant only serves breakfast The breakfast is just not that good. The selection is fine but the quality of the ingredients is poor and a lot of the food was quite tasteless. One last positive, is I did get a late check out without the usual battle you have with reception staff, so that was nice I think I will try a different Radisson when I come back next time. This place has gone down a bit. Its not a bad place but needs improving

The location was a little far from the station, and it was hard to push the carrier. However, there was a supermarket nearby, and many restaurants and second-hand stores, so it was convenient.
I was disappointed that cleaning wasn't done even though I requested it, and that they left behind towels and cleaning supplies.
However, the sauna in the basement was good. I definitely recommend going.
